Just Another Happy Ending

Chapter 21:Mine

'Babe...💔' I send the text and I'm staring up at the ceiling in my bedroom. It's late Tuesday night and Evan dropped me off about five or six hours ago from his house. We decided maybe we should just hang apart for the next few days. I don't know how it was gonna help but sure if somehow it meant I could trust him then I was up for it.

My thoughts are broken by the vibration of my phone. 'Why are you still up baby girl? Can't sleep?' I know he's concerned so I smile some before replying. 'Yeah it's cold here without you.' I lock my phone getting under the covers.

When I get comfortable my phone vibrates. 'I'm sorry your cold babe. If it makes you feel any better it's lonely here without you.' I laugh softly to myself. 'It doesn't but Evan I really just wanted to say that I'm sorry about earlier. I'm just not used to getting picked over Ashe. This will pass and I will love you more than I do now.' I lock my phone taking a breath.

I shut my eyes and right before I drift I feel it vibrate. 'Don't you worry about that baby girl. I just wished that I could make you see I'm not like Alec. I just want you happy. If you told me to I would drive to your house just to keep you warm tonight. I wish I could kiss you on your head right now and tell you everything's gonna be fine. I'll see you in the morning Ri. Sweet dreams. 😘💘'

I smile to myself typing a short response. 'I love you. 😍' I close my eyes dozing off to sleep. When I open them again it's morning. I roll over finding what I believe to be the warmth of the sun but I find something much more than that. "Evan..." I groan out and he kisses my head softly. "Hey baby girl."

I open my eyes peeking up at him and he's sleepy. His eyes are closed and he's so peaceful. "Why are you doing here?" He pulls me into him. "I couldn't sleep knowing you were cold and alone. I hope I hadn't startled you." I smile. "No I'm happy your here." He hums turning on his side to hold me better. "Go back to sleep baby."

I lean up kissing him softly before nuzzling into him smiling as I doze off. When I wake up he combing through my hair. I hum with a smile. "Good morning Evan." He smiles. "Good morning Ri." I laugh softly to myself. "So much for staying away."

He rubs his hand up and down my back. "If I had stayed away you wouldn't have been this happy when you woke up. I mean I can still leave or be one of those people that leaves before you even wake up in the morning." I grip his shirt letting my fingers curl around it. "You better not Evan. I mean it."

He lifts my face kissing me and I'm still so sleepy. "I was only teasing Ri. I could never leave you like that besides you just look so cute in the morning how could I pass up seeing that?" I smile blushing some as I pull away from his hand laying my face back in his chest. "Hey Ri...oh." I smile. "What is it Ashe?"

She huffs. "Well I hadn't realized you invited company without my knowledge." I huff opening my mouth to take the blame for it. "It was actually me Ashe. She knew nothing about my plans to be here." I stare up at him and he glances at me before turning his attention back to Ashe.

"Okay Evan well maybe next time you give a heads up." He nods and she sighs. "Now Ri I have to go grocery shopping. Did you guys want to come?" I nod forgetting she can't see me. "Yes Ashe I want to go." I can tell she's smiling by the tone in her voice. "Okay well I'm getting ready."

I hear her step away and I lift my face to his. "Why did you do that Evan?" He brushes a thumb over my lips. "Wasn't gonna let you take the blame silly. Come on Ashe will be waiting." I nod knowing he's right. I get up heading around to bathroom.

"I need to take a bath. You can go down and talk to Ashe if you would like. It won't bother me." He kisses me. "I'll do that. Don't stay to long please." I smile nodding. We pull apart and I turn the water on in the tub. Before I know it I'm drying my hair and pulling on a bra and underwear. I peek out making sure Evan is gone before heading to my closet. I pick a white lacy crop top with a baby blue skirt and a pink lacy cardigan.

Once I'm completely dressed. I curl my hair throwing on some bracelets and the diamond necklace Evan gave me. I eventually head downstairs hearing them laughing about something. "Yeah I know it's crazy how you can miss a field goal from that close." He laughs. "Yeah this team just sucks." She throws her head back laughing. "Finally someone who agrees."

I clear my throat. They both look up at me. "It's the grocery store sister dear." Evan laughs which makes me a little sad. I point to him when he's not looking and Ashe nods. "I get it. So are we ready?" I nod. "Yeah can you just give us a sec Ashe?" She nods. "Sure I'll be outside." I nod and she leaves.

"What's wrong Ri?" I frown. "Do I look stupid to you?" He shakes his head standing. "No Ri why would you think you do?" I sigh. "You laughed at Ashe's joke." He pulls me into him. "I'm sorry. I didn't think it would upset you. You look great babe. I can't wait to show everyone you're mine." I smile.

"Why do you always do that? Everytime I get mad you just have to make me smile." He leans into me. "Because I love you and I hate you sad. It breaks me." I kiss him and he move his lips with mine as I wrap my arms around his neck. He let's his hands slip up to grip my bare sides. He hums and I smile before pulling back.

"Ashe is waiting." He sets his nose on mine. "I love you." I smile. "I love you too." We pull apart and he takes my hand pulling me out of the door after him. We get into Ashe's car and I sit up front. She smiles turning up the radio as she pulls out the driveway. We head down to the small town market down the street.

When we get there we get out and Evan doesn't take my hand. I look up at him and he is watch a group of guys by there car that seem to be up to no good. I take his hand pouting some. He looks down at me with a small smile touching my cheek making me smile.

We get into the store and I see something cute so I break away from Ashe. "Evan please..." I say holding the little stuffed elephant. He smiles. "Of course babe." I smile. "Hey girl. What's your name?" I turn to see one of the guys Evan was staring at. "Riley and this is my boyfriend Evan." He looks up at him. "This is your girl?"

He nods. "Well congratulations man. Sorry for bothering you guys." He leaves and I smile at Evan. I stand on my toes because I had on sandals. "You did good babe. I'm proud of you." He kisses me once and I take his hand finding Ashe. We aren't there long and eventually we are loading the car up. I take a bag bending over to put it in the trunk.

I feel Evans hand on my hip. I turn and he leans into my ear. "Baby please go get in the car." I make a face. "Why?" He sighs. "Because you shouldn't bend over in that skirt okay?!" I hear the anger I guess in his voice and so I nod getting back into the front seat.

When we get home I head straight up to my room and it's not long until he's knocking on my door. He comes in and I sigh. "I'm sorry Evan." I'm sitting in the bed with my legs crossed. He takes my hands pulling me from the bed. He kisses me pushing me roughly to the door.

"Babe you think it's easy for a guy to hit on you because he doesn't know that your boyfriend is right next to you?! Bending over in a short skirt doesn't make the situation any better for other people or for me." I shake my head. "What's mine is mine Ri. I don't want to share." I pout and he holds my jaw so I'm facing him. "Would you want to share me?" I shake my head gripping his shirt. "Mine." I whisper softly. He smirks. "That's what I thought. So no more bending over in skirts in public Ri please?" I nod.

"Okay Evan. I promise." He grips my bare sides. "Babe I get you wanna look good for me and I love the thought but you just look so good other people want what I have. You don't have to go all out for me Ri you know that." I sigh. "Sometimes I like to because you just make me feel really pretty."

He kisses me. "Ri your pretty anyways. Just do me a favor and just be you. Don't try to impress me. I mean from time to time it's fine but I want to see you wake up in my shift and a pair of shorts with tour hair everywhere and say that's my girl. She's everything I've dreamed of." I smile. "Okay. I'll try." He hugs me kissing my head. What more could I possibly ask for?
