"Yeah right!" He says glancing at me as we head down a small street in Cali but he refuses to tell me where he's taking me. I don't push but instead I ask questions. We had talked about almost everything until somehow this subject came up.
"It's true Evan. I've never dated anyone." I smile over at him and he stops at a street light looking at me. He just stares before looking back at the light that's now green. He doesn't say anything and neither do I as he drives eventually pulling into a small diner parking lot.
I sigh. "What is this place?" He smiles opening his door getting out and so do I. "It's a diner I came to when I was little. I hope you don't mind?" I shake my head meeting him at the front of the car. I bump into him softly and he smiles. "Of course not." He smiles at me before heading for the door.
He holds it open for me and it looks old fashioned but clean and fancy at the same time. He steps up to this booth in the far corner sitting with this smile and I smile back. "It's been so long." I smile softly as a waitress walked up. "Hello welcome to Sasha Diner what can I get you?" He smiles widely at her.
"I'll have the special." She looks to me and I hold up two fingers suggesting that I want the same. She nods stepping off. I look at him and he's watching as she walks away. I clench my jaw slightly and he notices as he winks at me softly. I glare at him before looking away. He stays quiet until she returns with our food.
"I have to say the diner has changed a lot." She nods. "Yes Ms. Sasha retired some time ago and the youth took over." He shakes his head. "That's a shame. Thanks um..." She smiles widely at him. "Ashley." He nods taking a bite of food. "Thanks Ashley." She smiles twirling a piece of hair as she steps off.
I glare eating my food trying not to look at him. "Ri what's wrong?" I shake my head. "Oh nothing Evan." He laughs some at me and I glare. "You wouldn't happen to be jealous would you Ri?" He drop my fork and it chimes when it hits the full plate that I probably won't eat.
"No I'm not jealous Evan! And stop calling me that!" I say folding my arms. He stands coming over to me trying to sit down. I scoot over letting him curious to what he's doing. He pushes my hair behind my ear. "Riley..."
I shake my head. "No it's fine. Just eat so you can take me home." He frowns lightly whispering to me. "I'm sorry." He gets up heading back to his side. I push my plate away from me because I'm not hungry after Ashe's big breakfast. He pushes my plate back in front of me.
"Don't Riley please." I shake my head looking at him funny for why he seems so upset or why he believes I pushed my plate away. "I'm not hungry Evan after Ashe made breakfast. I'm sorry I shouldn't have order anything." I push the plate away and he grabs my wrist.
"Don't you think for a second I have a problem with spending money on you." I guess that made things a little better but not by much. I sigh leaning back against the plastic booth. Eventually Ashley comes back and he never looks at her once. She seems a little taken back by it as she sets the check on the table.
I smile at her saying thank you and she heads back to the counter. He glances up at me before paying the check and heading out with me. I get in and so does he taking a moment to but sit in silence. "Riley..." I touch his arm. "Call me Ri." He smiles at me. "You aren't mad?!"
I let my hand fall looking down sighing softly. "I'm just a friend Evan you can look at whoever you want." He smiles at me. "Ri you know you're more than just a friend." I blush softly looking at my hands in my lap. I'm playing with the strings hanging from my purse.
"I'm still a friend." He sighs. "Hey that's you're call. I know enough about you to know that I really like you. Okay so maybe it's been three days but people fall in love in seconds and no one questions it. So what makes this too fast?" I sigh staring at him feeling my heart drop.
"I-I don't know Evan. I just don't think I'm ready." He smiles starting the car. "Like I said Ri. Your call." He backs out and the car rides silent. I close my eyes thinking to myself. Before I know it I open my eyes to see him pulling over in front of my house.
I sigh softly. "Thanks for taking me Evan. I'll text you." He leans in kissing my cheek softly. "Ri do me a favor? Stop pushing me away. Let your heart talk instead of your brain. Let it tell you when your ready. There's nothing to be afraid of. I'll see you tomorrow." I'm shocked but I nod softly getting out of the car and closing the door.
I head into the house closing the door and laying my back on it taking a breath. I hear my sister step down the stairs. "How was it Riley?" I smile biting my lip smiling. "I like him Ashe. I really like him."
Enjoy.💫
