Chapter 30: Can't Catch A Break

"Come on babe. Once everyone knows it won't be bad." I sigh and we are standing in the bathroom of a restaurant by the shore. That's where the party was being held as we spoke. I wore a lacy small crop top that looked expensive and a pair of Levi short shorts that were black at the bottom but white at the top. "I doubt it Evan. That will give them a knew reason to hate me." He kisses me.

"Who cares Riley? I'm doing this for you. Not them." I smile. "Now come on its time." I take a breath nodding as he takes my hand pulling me back to the beach. Once we are there he stops taking the mic from the DJ who knew his plans. The music cuts off and he sighs.

"Hey everyone thanks for coming out tonight to have some fun but I have announcement to make." He takes my hand. "This is my girlfriend Riley. I know that we all know why I usually come down to Cali but not anymore. I'm not going home. I'm gonna stay here and settle down with her. The one night stands are over and my heart belongs to this girl. Thank you." The music starts to play and eventually the everyone goes back to dance.

Evan pulls me away to the dock so it's just us. "You look great." I smile sitting with my legs in my chest on the edge of the dock. "How much did it cost?" He smiles. "Five hundred." I lay my head on his shoulder. "What no comment about how I'm crazy?" I shrug. "No I mean I'll have to get used to it."

He kisses my head. "I love you." I don't say anything. He whines softly. "Baby..." I hum. "I love you too." We hear footsteps behind us on the wood of the dock. I turn and so does he. "Congrats on being a whore." I clench my teeth hearing Alec's voice. I stand pushing Evan back who's already up. I walk over shaky standing firm in front of him. "What you gonna do miss orphan?" I swing hitting him in his jaw. "I've had enough of you." I take Evan's hand. "Come on." I pull him off the dock back onto the sand and back towards the music.

"Ri..." I sigh. "Don't scold me. I'm sorry I couldn't be that precious little butterfly like you said." He kisses me. "You'll always be my butterfly baby. When you're around I don't see anyone else. I can't focus." I smile. "I guess that's all that matters." He smiles touching my face. "Yeah babe."

"Miss Orphan!" I turn because the voice is coming from a female. I feel the warm substance on my body before I look down realizing its melted chocolate probably from the fountain. I hear the shaping of pictures and I think if the lovely outfit she ruined. Before I know it Evan is towing me away from the laughs and pictures.

I hear the door open but I'm already sobbing softly. "Hey now come on let me run you a bath." He pulls Mr upstairs after him but I'm so embarrassed I can't even see why he claimed me after that. When we are in the bathroom he runs the water making sure its the right temp before stepping over to me. "Ri listen to me. You need to get undressed and get in the tub." I sob.

"I can't..." He sighs touching my arms. "Let me help." I nod feeling his hands tug at the small crop top covered in chocolate. "There ruined." I say with tears still running down my face. He smiles touching my chin. "Not when your boyfriend is rich. I'll buy you a new set." I wipe my eyes as he pulls the top completely off of me. Next is my shorts.

He takes them off if me never lingering for a second. I can tell he's not worried about anything but the fact that I'm okay. He unclips my bra letting to slide off of me. "Almost there love." He pulls my underwear off of my legs before kissing me gently and helping me into the tub. The water turns brown and he pulls the plug and refills the tub so I don't have to sit in it. I let my eyes drift shut once it's nice and quiet.

"Evan you didn't have to take me away." He nudges his nose into the side of my face. "Yeah I did babe. I wasn't gonna leave you there." I frown. "Why not? That was very humiliating." I feel him out back making me open my eyes only to quickly shut them again when he kisses me. "I love you Riley. I don't care what these people think of me. I never have. Your opinion matters. I'm not gonna let you be humiliated alone. Now what kind of boyfriend would I be?" I smile.

"A smart one." He hums. "But not a very good one." He says kissing me. "Are you ready to get out babe?" I nod softly nudging my nose against his. He smiles and so do I. He leans forward pulling the plug before standing to help me stand. He hands me a towel. "I'm gonna go get you some clothes." I nod. I dry and when he opens the door I cover myself and he smiles pulling me into him. "It's just me babe. You don't have to be afraid." I sigh. He hands me my underwear considering they were still clean. I hand him the towel sliding them on before covering my chest.

He leans in kissing me. "Sweetness what's wrong? You normally don't shut me out like this. Do you think I'm gonna make a bad comment?" I frown. "No...I just don't like being the only one naked. It's awkward." He hums. "I can get undressed." I hum back. "Or you can give me that nice big shirt you brought for me." He rolls his eyes throwing it over my head. "Always wanna ruin the moment Ri." I step forward pushing his back to the door. "Who said you were getting lucky tonight at all?"

He frowns touching my hip. "What if I beg for it baby?" I roll my eyes. "Shut up Evan." He kisses my cheek softly. "I love you." I smile. "I guess I love you too." He pulls me into him wrapping his arms around me. "You guess?" I bite my lip. "I guess." He fake frowns. "Did you see all those beautiful women that showed up at your party Evan and your worried about one little Cali girl saying she love you." He touches his nose to mine.

"Because that one little Cali girl was the only thing I was focused on all night. I just wanted to see her smile and be happy especially after all the crap I've put her through. So yes I'm waiting on a simple I love you from her. Even if it takes forever." I kiss him. "I love you." He kisses my nose gently. "I know baby. Come on let me take you home." I wrap my arms around his neck.

"No..." I whisper. "My place?" I nod. He pushes me back. "Let's get you some pants then." I nod and he pulls me out of the bathroom into an empty bedroom. "Maybe Alexa left something else." He opens a drawer pulling out a pair of leggings. "Here." He says handing them to me and I tug them on. He bites his lip pulling me into him.

"Babe?" I shake my head. "Take me away please." He kisses me. "Come on duck your head and don't acknowledge anyone okay?" I nod softly. He takes me downstairs and out the front door. We walk hand in hand to his car. We climb in still hearing the music from the beach. "Babe?" I say softly. "I hate to ask this but I really loved that outfit and..." He smiles. "I'll take you to buy a knew one. I promise. It'll look just like the last one." I smile. "Thank you." He kisses my head. "Let me take you to my house so you can get some sleep." I nod softly before he pulls off and I'm gently dozing in his seat with his hand in mine.
