"Evan what did I tell you?!" I say with a mad smile on my face. He smiles over at me from the driver seat of the car. "Riley I can't help but spend money on you okay? It's instinct and I really don't mind." I sigh at him. "Still I'm fine with cheap food."
He had taken me out to the most expensive restaurants in LA. The forks were solid gold and all the food was at least a hundred dollars. I loved the he spoiled me but that was to much money. "So is that it? Home I go?" He scuffs some taking my hand in his.
"No no baby girl I told you that we were gonna have fun. The nights just begun." I smile humming gently at his words. "So what did you have in mind?" He shakes his head simply so I don't poke. Before I know it I see him pull up to the beach parking.
He turns to me and I just stare at the dark waves white capping on the shore. I get out without even acknowledging him and start to walk. Before I know it I'm barefoot and running towards the water. I feel the breeze and it's not to cold anymore.
"Ri!" I hear him yell breaking me free from this hallucination. "I'm-I'm sorry." He kisses me and I can feel his heart beating against my chest. I assume he had chanced after me. He shakes his head pull back some. "Don't be. This is one of the many things I like about you Ri."
"It's so peaceful and calming. You know when I was younger after my parents died. I used to just sit here and hope that something could change. I prayed that somehow it would get better and I found you. No I mean my parents are still gone but at least I can be happy for once."
He stares at me before kissing me passionately. "I hope so. I mean I hope your happy." I stand on my toes because I left my boots back in the car kissing his cheek. "I am Evan, now why did you bring me out here?" I say taking his hand in mine.
He smiles walking down the shore line with me. "I just know how much you love the ocean." I laugh some. "I know that's not the only reason." He sighs. "I just wanted a peaceful place to talk with you is that so bad?" I squint at him.
"You're up to something but I guess I'll just have to wait and see what it is." He smiles nodding. I shake my head and there's silence. "I think my mom would like you." He says randomly. I smile down at my feet as we walk hand in hand.
"I think my parents would have liked you but they wouldn't have approved of us rushing into this like we did." He laughs. "Do you?" I look up at him. "Honestly Evan I don't trust you completely yet because I just can't but I know someday I will."
He looks at me funny stopping. "Why don't you trust me Ri?" I frown. "It's just the stuff you say it all seems so perfect and I don't trust that. People will tell you what you want to hear and then they break you the next chance they get." He drops my hands cupping my face.
"Ri you say that like you've experienced it. Who hurt you?" I frown letting my fits ball just thinking about him. "He still goes to school with us. His name is Alec." He looks confused. "I thought you told me I was your first boyfriend?" I nod gently.
"Because you are. Alec was nothing more than a friend who acted like he wanted to be with me. Kinda like you did but he was way more forward with it." He sighs as if he is trying to understand but knows he won't like this story in the end.
"You remember how I was so careful about telling you about my parents? And how everyone just seems to feel sorry for me?" He nods hesitantly. "I told Alec about my parents and he told everyone. Teachers. Students. Everyone. I cried in the bathroom stall for four hours until it was time to go home. So do you understand now?"
He kisses me very carefully and I don't move my lips with his this time. "Riley I swear to you I would never do something like that and honestly I want to go kick that kids butt for doing that to you. I know words alone aren't enough but maybe this will help." He reaches into his pocket pulling out a box with a bow on it.
It's small so I'm assuming it's jewelry. "I planned on doing this later in the night but I think it might he better use now." I take the box opening it and inside is diamond necklace with a simple gold chain. "Is this real?!" He nods with a smile.
"I can't take this." I say handing it back to him and he shakes his head. "That's my promise to you Ri. I mean what I say okay." I look down at it in awe. "No Evan..." He kisses me softly. "I'm not taking it back. I'm serious Ri and you don't have to trust me now but I want you to eventually."
I nod softly after awhile. I stand on my toes wrapping my arms around his neck. "Thank you Evan." He hugs me back. "Don't you worry about it. Now would you like to go home." I make my grip tighter on him. "Honest I don't want to leave you." He laughs some.
"I don't want to leave you either but I'll see you tomorrow morning to take you to school." I nod. "Okay Evan." I pull back and he takes my hand walking with me to his car. When we get back I dust my feet off sliding my boots back on.
He drives me home getting out when we arrive. He walks me to the door taking a breath. "Okay Riley I'll see you tomorrow morning." I nod softly hugging him. He pulls back some cupping my face before kissing me. "Sweet dreams baby girl." He says softly to me letting his nose touch mine.
"Thank you for everything Evan." He kisses my forehead. "That's what I'm here for Ri. I better getting going though or I'll never leave. But thanks for tonight it made my day." I smile as he steps off the top step and our hands reach out locking together. "Goodbye Evan." I say rolling my eyes with a smile.
He smiles as well letting go of my had to walk away. I wait watching him and he winks at me before getting in the car. I head inside knowing he won't leave until I am safely inside. I'm greeted by my sister.
"So have fun?" I nod motioning for her follow me. She steps into the kitchen and I stop at the bar. "He gave me this." I say setting the box on the table. "Holy crap! Is that real?!" I nod chewing on my lip. "Why did he give you this?!"
I sighs softly. "Because he's my boyfriend." She wraps her arms around me. "Sister dear normally I would scold you for running in to something but this boy has got it for you. I know you really like him too so I'm not mad. He seems well enough and if he turns out to be a great guy keep him sweetie because not many guys would spend this kind of money on only the third date."
She kisses my cheek. "I'm heading to bed now that your back. Good night butthead." I laugh watching her disappear. I play with the necklace in the box. Maybe Evan wasn't so bad. I smile softly to myself. Not bad at all.
Enjoy. 😜
