Training Camp

First day of training camp nine children show up, six girls and three boys, all lanky mostly teens two still children but tall for their age both being boys of ten years of age.

They walk into the same barracks their parents stayed at all those long years ago though it has gone through many changes through the ages, better living quarters separate rooms for each child to bunk down in, improved showers, desks in each room.

The base commander greets them upon their entering his camp the first morning they are finally all together as a group. “New recruits I am the base commander. Commander Bardolph. It is my responsibility to train and keep you all safe while you are here in my camp. If there is anything you need while you are here feel free to ask you may not get what you are asking for but feel free to ask for it anyway” he said to them gazing from one to another watching their response. “This being your first day your uniform is not necessary, but starting tomorrow you will wear one every day to train, and at dinner you will wear your official dress uniforms every night while dining with the Lord and Lady in the dining room” he instructed.

Showing them around the camp leading them through the obstacle course slowly showing them all the different places they would train, like the deserted village, the hand to hand combat field, even the newly constructed fire pit, and water pond area. There are so many areas for them to train at unlike their parents, they have at least fifteen more spots to train with their unique powers.

Wandering back into the center of the camp they head to the barracks the camp commander introduces them to the trainers. “Trainee these are your trainers. This is Mr. Dagrún your physical and weapons instructor” Pointing to the man on his left hand side. “This is Mr. Vibicke you other instructor for hand to hand training” The base commander pointed to his right hand side at Mr. Vibicke. “Now I will be teaching you all advanced powers mind reading training” They all looked to one another smiling for the first time.

“You all have thirty minutes to head into your barracks your names are on your own door with all your clothes you will need for training, take a quick shower and dress in your formal dress uniforms and meet in the gathering room in your barracks in thirty minutes sharp. I will meet you there to take you all over to the dining hall to meet up with His royal Highness the Lord and his Lady to eat and fill you in on this evenings classes” The base commander stated to them all. “Dismissed”

They all turned and ran into the barracks, looking for their names on each of the doors, to get a change of clothes, then they all headed into the showers at the end of the barracks to shower and change. Anton helped both of his little brothers into their uniforms, then they all proceeded into the meeting room which had a large flat screen TV mounted on the wall, and several couches scattered around the room. There were several game consoles, board games and books galore, not that they would have a lot of time to play games in this room, but by chance they did get a few minutes they were here for them.

Thirty minutes later on the dot the commander had inspections with a lineup in the meeting area. Then he proceeded to explain how they were all to act when they walked into the dining room when they met the Lord and Lady their great grandparents, royalty, high ranking members of the High Council.

They are led single file into the grand dining hall up in front of them Lord and Lady. Once they are all facing forward then quickly curtsy and bow to the Lord and Lady holding it till the Lord says “Rise and take your places at the table” in a stately manor. He gives off that air that deserves respects and he gets it.

All nine children scurry on over to their seats at the table standing before their respective seats waiting for permission to sit. “You may sit and begin eating. It is a pleasure to have such fine ones honor us at our table and join us as we break bread and share our food” The Lord said to the children as they took their seats and they were served the first course of the nights meal. He went on to explain in detail more of what would go on while they were at camp these first three months while they were eating.

When they finished with their meal they were brought to the classrooms girls to one room boys to another, The Lord would be teaching the boys while the Lady will teach the girls. Entering their respective rooms they find tables and chairs just like back in their own school rooms, with books, pens, and pencils, and all the things they will need, including their own personal laptops; engraved with the crest of the Enforcers right on the top of them, along with their one name personalizing them for each child.

Their first night all they did was introduce them to their books and new laptop programs, showed them how everything worked, or where other rooms were like; the library which was endless. They returned to the barracks that first night dragging tired headed straight to bed. Tomorrow was the first full day of training and their first night after wards in the classrooms learning about laws and regulations. For now all they wanted to do was sleep and that is just what they did.

Then next day just as the sun was rising through brush casting an orange yellow glow upon the land a horn rang out in their barracks waking them with a startle they jumped up dressing and brushing their hair teeth and making sure they were prim and properly dressed in their training uniforms for this first day of training. They met out on the training grounds out front of their barracks, in forty five minutes flat, standing in a single line girls to the left boys to the right.

“Listen up this being your first time out, we are going for just a one mile hike through the woods. Team up with your mates for this hike, everyone stick together, no stragglers everyone keep up” The first instructor Mr. Dagrún ordered we followed him into the woods, running right after him trying our best to keep up it was a struggle for the younger ones.

Each pair of girls ran through the woods, hand in hand with one of the boys, trying to keep up; or in a single line depending on the surrounding environment. Whether it be trees and logs, bolder, or holes, all the way to the deserted old town. Entering the town the children were amazed to see it looked like a bomb went off in the center of the town. Most of the buildings were almost destroyed nothing but walls with no roofs, open doorways, no windows, cobblestone streets with holes here and there. A well in the center of town, a fire pit by one stone wall near a small frame of a stone fire charred house. Upon closer inspection there were many manikins located throughout every building; and in between them hiding behind stones and trees.

A/N.... This story will start on February 21- 2012... On the night of the new moon. The first chapter which this teaser is part of is kind of a filler chapter to get the children up to fighting age the story starts on chapter 2 and progresses from there.
