~Day 2~
"Ronnie!" A voice said, scaring me half to death out of my deep slumber. I jumped in my sleep, eyes opening wide to see Liam sitting there in a gown before me."Liam!" I exclaimed, a smile forming on my face as I sat up quickly in the bed.
I had fallen asleep very late last night only waking up once to roll over. At that point I checked the clock to see what time it was, happy to have the luxury back.
"Hey, sorry I startled you-woah slow down we don't need your heart monitor to start beeping; I'm not supposed to be in here." He rambled quickly, grasping my shoulders to hold me down.
I looked down off the bed to see him sitting in a wheelchair making me gasp.
"Liam! What happened?! Are you hurt worse than we thought?!" I asked urgently, worried for him.
"No, I'm fine Ronnie. The nurses won't let me move around without being in the wheelchair so I lied and told them I was going to go to the bathroom down the hall." He explained, making my breathing return to normal as he pulled his hands off my shoulders.
"Did you sleep ok?" He asked making me nod my head furiously.
"Better than ever, how about you?" I asked, him nodding as a response. "Do you have any broken bones?"
"No, they just had to clean the wound on my stomach so it's patched up now. How's your foot? They wouldn't tell me anything when I asked." He said, making me frown knowing he was worried about me, but also smile on the inside knowing we had been thinking of each other.
"It's doing fine, they had to stitch it up so I probably won't be able to walk on it for a few weeks. When are we getting out of here?" I asked making him breathe out.
"That's what I came here to talk to you about, and I really need to leave soon before they find out where I've been. You and I will most likely be sent on separate planes to the RAF HQ to be interviewed about the crash separately. So that's why they were keeping us separate-well until now- because they don't want us exchanging information or details." He explained quickly, checking over his shoulder to make sure no one was coming.
"What? Do they think we're planning a conspiracy against them?"
"They have the right to their suspicions, so I don't know when we'll be reunited, but just tell them the truth. There will probably be multiple investigators there."
"But Liam, how can we go back to Britain if we're at war? When I told the nurse that, she looked at me like I was insane but we know we were attacked!"
"I don't know Ronnie, but they wouldn't bring us back if it wasn't safe." Just then, we heard footsteps turn around the corner of the hall.
"Shit! Got to go, I'll see you soon Ronnie! If I don't find you, you will find me!" He called, wheeling himself quickly out into the hall before the nurse spotted him.
The nurse came into my room seeing I was awake and began unwrapping the bandage on my stitches to let them breathe. I thanked her quietly, before asking when I would be able to leave which she replied with a simple "Soon." That really didn't give me any time period considering soon could be in a few hours, later tonight, or possibly tomorrow.
She ended up asking what I wanted for breakfast, saying she would go get me some from the cafeteria. I asked for some milk and eggs, still feeling the side affects of all the citrus on my teeth.
She was gone for about 10 minutes as I sat there in bed listening to the planes take off from the base surrounding us. It was easy to forget I was in U.S. territory when I was stuck inside this tiny room. I had been kind of startled by the accents at first, but became used to them quickly.
