~Day 25~
"LEFT...LEFT...LEFT RIGHT LEFT! LEFT...LEFT...LEFT RIGHT LEFT!" Payne yelled aloud from the side of our pack, keeping a steady rhythm. All week we had been practicing our foot drill for graduation. It took hours upon hours every day just to perfect our posture and evenness in line."Keep those heads facing forward! Swing your arms tightly!" Payne shouted as we kept marching. He threatened to make us practice on the weekend if we didn't put our all into training.
"Alright, that's enough for today. You have until 13:00 sharp to study for your final exam and meet in the auditorium. If you fail this exam you have to retake this entire camp so I suggest you don't fool around and you use your time wisely. You're dismissed." He announced as the boys immediately scrambled inside to start studying literally three hours before the test. District 24 is not the brightest.
I began to walk inside by myself when I heard my name called from behind. I turned around and approached Payne as he wiped the sweat off his brow.
"Since you've already passed, I told Horan you'd go down to the simulation room and help him set a couple of items up for next week." I nodded my head in response.
"Yes sir. Thank you." I replied as I walked off the pavement and into the camp. I then proceeded down a hallway I had never been down before to get to the simulation room. I opened the door slowly and walked in only to find it was pitch black.
Just as I turned around to find the light switch, the entire room illuminated making me jump as I saw Horan standing there in the doorway.
"Morning Woods." He greeted as he walked past me and into the room filled with various types of equipment. I stood there in awe taking in every detail of the room.
It was a room smaller than the auxiliary gym, but larger than the auditorium. It had very tall ceilings, white walls painted with a blue stripe, and tile floors.
Most of all, it was filled with the newest and fanciest technology I had ever laid eyes on. Giant simulating machines, flat screens covering almost an entire wall, and cabinets upon cabinets filled with equipment. Now I knew where all the money went into this place.
"Well are ya' coming? We have loads to do today." He cocked an eyebrow as I nodded my head quickly, snapping out of my daze and followed him back into the storage room where he had already begun looking through the shelves. "I need you to put these by the combustion chamber, these by the turbine, and these by-"
"Sorry sir, but I don't know exactly where anything is yet...or what any of this stuff is." I cut in quickly as he stopped what he was doing and scratched the back of his neck.
"Yes it would probably be smart to give you a tour first. Follow me." He walked out of the storage room and began pointing out what everything was. It was all mesmerizing and I wondered why we hadn't had the chance to work in here before. After he concluded the tour, I decided to ask.
"Do you know when we'll have a chance to use this equipment?" I asked curiously as we walked back into the storage room.
"Training in here starts next week but if we get everything done before 15:00 today I could let you test it out early." He bribed making me nod my head quickly and immediately grab the cardboard box out of his hands. I couldn't wait to be apart of a simulated fast jet flight!

"Well, it looks like that's all I have for you today Woods." Horan announced as he set the last piece of equipment on a table.
With lunch in between, we had set up 12 organized stations total for next week's training sessions. Each one dealt with a different part of the fast jet flying experience and made me even more excited for next week.
