~Day 17~
"And over here we have one of the two surviving Vickers Wellington bomber planes." The man informed as Payne wheeled me across the marble floor, behind the group.
All week I had been beside Payne's side. I wasn't allowed to do anything by myself. I couldn't participate in the activities the rest of my squadron was doing because of my injuries, but I couldn't be let out of Payne's sight. Strict orders from the doctor apparently.
I usually just timed the boys in whatever activities they were doing thinking about how I wished that was me getting to train and not being stuck in a wheelchair. When I wasn't timing, I was studying for the test on Friday. If I only had to take one section instead of four, then I was only going to do one.
Currently we were at our field trip to the Hendon Museum. Not that I could see anything though, being in the back in a wheelchair.
"Alright continuing on..." The tour guide said as he rounded a corner and took us down another hall. About halfway down, Payne called Harry towards us.
"I have to go speak with someone. Wheel Woods till I come back." He ordered as Harry said 'yes sir' and got behind my chair.
"How are ya' holding up Cameron?" He asked as he wheeled me quickly to catch up with the group.
"I can't see a damn thing from back here." I huffed as I leaned my elbow on the arm of my chair.
"Well if it makes you feel any better, the planes weren't that interesting to look at." He said as our group stopped once again.
"Well at this point I have shown you the main pieces of history, you're free to roam around on your own for a little while." The tour guide said as we all dispersed immediately.
With Louis following, Harry pushed me over towards a section labeled 'Fast Jets' making my heart beat with excitement. Inside were three planes all with the RAF logo on them. One black and two blue. They each were different sizes and made in different years. Harry wheeled me around to each one so I could read the little information board as Louis complained because he wanted to go look at the bombs.
We eventually became annoyed of his complaining and followed him around the different halls until we were called back into the large group.
"We're going to go upstairs now to where our newer exhibits are." The guide said as he turned and led us to the stairs.
"I can take over again Styles." Payne offered as he came up behind me and let Harry join the rest of the group. The boys went up the steps as we waited for the elevator.
Just as the last boy reached the top of the stairs, Payne turned me around quickly and led me down a completely different hallway.
"Sir-the elevator was right-" I started but was cut off.
"We're taking a little detour." He replied quickly as he led me down a hallway labeled 'Former RAF Members'. Lining each of the walls were pictures of notable RAF members. Below each picture was their name, a quote, and why they were deemed 'notable'.
As we reached the end of the hall, Payne stopped in front of a few pictures. I looked up to see why he had stopped when I saw a picture of my mom making me gasp.
"Oh my gosh." I whispered as I covered my mouth with my hands. "What? How?" I asked as I looked at him astonished that he knew she was here. I didn't even know she was deemed notable.
"She was a brave woman." He said as I looked back at the plaque attempting to read it from my chair.
"Can you move me a little closer so I can get a better look?" I asked as I tried to stretch my body towards the wall. Just as I thought he was going to move me closer, he pulled the plaque off the nail in the wall and handed it to me. "What you can't-"
