~Day 1~
"Welcome to the Falkland Islands...Welcome to the Falkland Islands..." The soldier from outside the aircraft greeted as every one of us stepped off. Since I was in District 24, Payne and I were the last ones to exit the plane, him letting me go first as a kind gesture. The 16 hour flight went by pretty quickly since I slept for the majority of it. Only when we had some turbulence or breakfast came around did I wake up.
"Welcome to the Falkland Islands." The man said to me, making me smile back. It was eight in the morning on the islands, so we gained four hours total. But unexpectedly, it was quite chilly.
"I didn't think it was going to be this cold." I said to myself as Payne walked beside me.
"We're in the Patagonia, what did you think it would be like?" He asked me with a chuckle.
"Well, we're kind of close to Hawaii. I expected it to be more...tropical." I pouted as he rolled his eyes in response. We quickly came to a halt in line as we reached the base camp. The instructors were let in right away as the rest of us students had to be inspected, which meant I was going to have to stand out in the cold longer than anyone. Not fun.
"Cameron Woods!" The officer called almost nearly 20 minutes later, making me practically run towards him, my toes almost numb from the cold.
"Present sir." I said as I saluted quickly, just as the others did. He checked me off the list as he inspected my suitcase I was handed when getting off the plane. He then gave me directions on where to go inside to find my bunk.
I followed his directions and was soon enough met with a door that read "Females Only" making me squeal in excitement. I was finally going to see what it felt like to live without boys. I entered the room expecting to be the only female again, but was surprisingly greeted with two other girls who were already unpacking.
"Hi!" I said as I shut the door behind me and looked towards them. They stopped what they were doing and turned around with smiles. One of them had bright blonde hair with dark brown eyes, and the other with a darker red hair with brown eyes.
"Hello! You must be the first female graduate of District 24!" One of them chirped, making me laugh.
"Uh-yeah that's me!" I said as I set my suitcase down on one of the beds.
"We've heard so much about you. I'm Riley by the way, and this is Amelia." The blonde introduced as I shook their hands.
"I'm Cameron." I replied as I moved back to open my suitcase, looking around and taking in the rest of the room.
"So, how was it at RAF Halton? I've heard that's one of the hardest camps to get through, that's why there's never been a female graduate for your district." Amelia said with her eyes wide making me furrow my eyebrows.
"I mean it was fine, the squadron leaders I thought were very young, but other than that I didn't have that many problems. I mean it might be because I don't let people push me around, but I did grow up in a house with four brothers." I said as they nodded their heads. "How were your camps?" I asked as they looked at each other.
"We're from Districts 2 and 3," they began, making me bite my lip. That was where I used to live, District 2, before my dad made us move once my mother passed. "But our squadron leaders were kind of old. I wish we had young ones like you did, makes it more fun." They said flirtatiously wiggling their eyebrows.
"Believe me, none of that went on. My leader was a pain in the ass. He didn't...stay true to his word." I explained making them nod confusedly. Just as they were about to ask a question, an alarm blared throughout the building with someone coming on the intercom seconds later.
