~Day 14~

It had been a full week of research. I'd been scouring the web for information on my mother's disappearance and protocols that needed to be done in order to declare a person missing from flight. I wrote a letter to Louis and Harry asking how things were going back at base and if there were any rumors going around about Liam and I.

Liam and I had met up a few days ago to talk about what we each had found out and decided it would be best to submit our appeals. Liam found out from Horan and Malik that they were keeping the details of our crash very quiet around base, citing only that Liam was at fault for the crash.

Louis and Harry wrote me back and said there were rumors I was missing a leg from a shark attack but I didn't know if that was true or just Louis being an ass. Their training camp would be over in about 3 weeks and everyone would be graduated to fast jet flyers. Depending on how many were needed, some of them may be sent into active duty or placed on reserve.

It was about 4 in the afternoon and I had been going through more documents on my laptop trying to learn as much as I could about my mother's disappearance. With nothing else to do while I waited for my appeal, it was the least I could do to stay busy and be productive. It was just then that I heard a ding and looked up to see I had a notification on my email. I switched tabs and saw the headline "RAF Appeal Results" making my heart skip a beat. "Oh my god it's here," I went back and forth debating on if I should click on it right then or wait until Liam had heard back. I decided to call Liam and see if he had received his.

"Hey what's up-" he answered picking up the phone.

"I got my appeal results back," I said cutting him off and was met with a moment of silence on the other end.

"And?"

"I haven't opened it yet," I admitted with a laugh realizing that of course that would be the first thing he would ask.

"Why not?! This is huge we need to know."

"I'm afraid to open it, this email holds my entire future," I said with a huff. "Have you gotten yours yet?"

"No, but I know if I did I would've opened it right away," he teased.

"Maybe I should wait till you get yours so we can open them together."

"Ronnie, just open it!"

"I don't want to I'm scared! What if it's denied? Then I'm just going to sit here and cry all by myself." I sighed ultimately admitting my biggest fear: finding out the worst news in my life and having to be alone for it.

"Well, I can come over but I just finished at the gym so I will be awhile-"

"Can I come to your place? I have to give you back that box of your father's stuff."

"Sure, just come in when you get here, bye Ronnie." I ended the call, slamming the lid of my laptop shut so I wouldn't be tempted to open the email. I stuffed it in my backpack and threw it over my shoulders.

"Henry, James! I'm going out I'll be back later!" I yelled up the stairs to my brothers who were probably in their rooms playing video games. I snatched the keys to the car off the counter and walked outside. No more than 20 minutes later I arrived at Liam's house and walked through his front door. He was nowhere to be seen but I could hear commotion from his bathroom upstairs signaling he was still probably getting ready. I took a seat on his couch in the living room placing my laptop on the coffee table. A few minutes later Liam came jogging down the steps wearing a pair of gray joggers and a tight black tee.

"Hey!" He said landing on the final step and walking over to the couch. His hair was still damp as he had just gotten out of the shower. He sat down on the couch next to me placing his phone in his pocket as I grabbed my laptop. "You haven't peeked without me have you?" he teased making me shake my head.
