A simple "Hey" from an unknown number--
As soon as I recognized it, my heart was a-thunder.
I texted back, just to confirm:
"Is you you?" I reaffirmed.
He asked me if he could tell me something from deep within.
I stared sharply at the screen, my head in a tailspin.
I said yes, part of me in regret.
Not sure if I was ready to do this yet.
"I wanted you to know that I was happy with you,
"When we were in 'like' my soul was never blue.
"I'm sorry for what I did, and I apologize with all my might.
"Please forgive; give a chance second." The words aflame with fight.
I said I'd forgive you--"We'll try this friendship thing."
But I've been warned; my heart repairing on doves' wings.
