Apply the primer, prep for foundation,
Next, it across my face, like the soil of nations.
Paint my lashes long and thick
And add blush, color of brick.
Dash on highlighter while tears threaten
I'll cry today, I'm certainly betting.
Underneath this makeup on my cheeks
My panic is obvious and it speaks.
This is why I paint my face,
A shield light enough to keep pace.
Armor, also, and chain mail
And a sword that won't fail.
I use this all to hide the fear
That constantly resides here.
