Peyton's POV

I went to school this morning with the full intention of talking to Sawyer. But surprise, surprise, he isn't here. How much longer can he ignore me? Probably a lot longer than I think. Maybe he'd rather cut off his balls, then confront me? Just maybe I'll ask him and see if that gets his attention.

My second period teacher cleared her throat to get my attention, "Ms. Anderson? Can you please stop daydreaming and pay attention to the lesson?" All the students snickered.

"Sorry, miss," I blushed in embarrassment. I tried my hardest to pay attention and not get called out anymore. Thanks a lot, Sawyer.

The bell rung for lunch and I went on my way to the cafeteria. We're having flavorless, baked chicken. Yummy. I got my tray and looked for a place to eat. I usually sat with Liam and Ava if I ate lunch at school, and lately I have been avoiding eating lunch here.

"Hey, Peyton!" I heard a voice yell. My eyes tried to find where the voice came from. Then my eyes caught Rein waving her arms to get my attention.

I walked up and set my tray down beside Rein's, "Hey," I waved at all the people at the table.

"Hey, I'm Ricky," I looked to see the guy in front of me smiling, and then he winked at me. He was pretty cute actually, green eyes and brown hair. Maybe I'm starting to have a thing for brunettes?

"I'm Peyton," I gave a smile back.

"I know," his eyes widened. "Wait, that didn't sound right. I just mean like I know who you are because you're you. You're Peyton Anderson, the p-"

"It's okay," I laughed. "I get it,"

He laughed back while biting his lip slightly, "Oh, and this is Elijah," he motioned to the guy beside Rein. "And then right here is Haley and Fawn," he said as he threw his arms on the two girls shoulders, beside him.

I nodded, "Nice meeting you guys," I say with a small smile.

They all nodded and went back to their individual conversations. Rein and Elijah were off in their own little world. I don't know if they're dating, but if they are a thing, they look really cute together.

"You're really cute," I looked away from my food and saw Ricky leaning on his forearms, on the lunch table.

"Um, thank you?" That compliment was out of nowhere. It caught me off guard.

"How about we go to the football game tonight?" He had a flirtatious smile playing on his lips. Did he really just ask me on a date? Slow down, Peyton. Don't jump to accusations.

"Sorry, I can't. My foster sister is coming to my house today. I want to be there for her arrival," it was all honesty, Vikki was coming over today. Her party was all set up and everything. My mom ordered a cake and the best decorations she could at last minute. And thank god, there is actually a such thing as a 'winter mermaid', my mom was freaking out about the theme.

"You guys are a foster family?" He seemed quite interested in the topic. But not taken back about me rejecting his offer.

"Yea, Vikki will be our first child," I probably looked like an insane person by how excited I was.

"You do know tha-" he was going to say something but Fawn elbowed him in the side and whispered something in his ear. He nodded and proceeded to talk, "It's great that your parents are doing something like that,"

I was confused, that's definitely not what he was gonna say, but I shook it off, "Thanks, my parents and I are all really happy to meet her," I gave him a small smile. "But, maybe some other time I can go to a game with you,"
