Peyton's POV
I woke up the next morning happier than usual. I was too happy for it to be six in the morning. But, I went along with it anyways. I made my way to the bathroom, took a shower and cleaned myself up. It took me another thirty minutes to get the rest of my routine done. I left my bedroom in a slightly cropped, red hoodie; black, high-waisted jeans; and black doc martens. I lifted my backpack onto my shoulders and went downstairs.
My parents were still asleep this morning, since they don't have to work today. I checked my phone to see what time it was and if Sawyer told me what time he'd be here.
Sawyer
I'll be there at 7. And don't eat breakfast, we'll stop at the cafe.
Me
Okay, see you then.
I looked at the clock and it read six fifty-five. While I waited, I made sure I had everything I needed. I found out I didn't pack my earphones or charger, so I ran back upstairs to my room to gather my most needed essentials for school. I walked on out of my room and heard a knock at the door. I hurried on downstairs to go answer it.
"Hey," I say as I open the door to reveal a (as usual) smirking Sawyer.
"Hey," he looked me up and down. I usually wouldn't mind, but if we wanted to get breakfast, we need to leave now.
I cleared my throat to get his attention, "Like what you see, Peters?"
His head snapped up to meet my eyes, "I would be lying if I said no," he gave me a toothy smile. One that has started to kill me in an instant.
I felt my face turn red like a tomato, "Whatever, let's go," I gave him a smile, which he returned. I closed the door behind me and followed him to his car.
"You really do look beautiful," he said as we got into his car.
"What do you mean?" I laughed. "I'm wearing a hoodie, jeans, and boots. Nothing about this, is cute,"
"But everything about you is cute," he stared me in the eyes.
"Why?" I blurt out. He seemed taken back, but quickly recovered and gave me a questioning look. "I asked you before why you have been so nice to me. It's so sudden. You warned my about Ava and Liam, took me to your house, asked to the formal, and now you're taking me to breakfast and school. What's happening?"
He turned his attention back to the car and started the engine. He backed out of my drive and onto the road. The car was all silent until he decided to speak, "Everything,"
I didn't respond or question him. I just went with it. I learned that's what you have to do with him. Just listen and don't push him, or he'll push you away. But, he's just so confusing. First he's all cheesy and cliche and then he's distant all at once.
We pulled up to the cafe near school, and parked. We got out of the car and went to the door. As we walked in, we got seated. The waitress came up to our table and eyed Sawyer with a sly smile. Sawyer looked up and gave her a wink. I scoffed at the sight.
"What can I get you?" The waitress asked leaning over the table to Sawyer.
Sawyer leaned closer and whispered in her ear.
"That can be arranged," she smirked at him and standing up straight again. She put her attention to me with a blank expression, "And you?"
