Peyton's POV
Ricky and his family stayed after dinner to chat for a little longer. My parents decided it was best for the adults to talk in the living room and then for me to take Ricky up to my room with Vikki. I was hesitant at first, but my mom gave me a look that if I didn't I would be in trouble for making her look bad.
"Here we are," I said as I swung my door open for them to follow in behind me.
"Wow," Ricky's eyes widen as he entered my room. "Your room is nice,"
"Thanks," I laughed. "Take a seat," I patted my the spot next to me on the bed as I sat down.
"I figured your room to be more girly to be honest," he blurted.
"Girly how?"
"Boy posters all over your wall, pink paint, white furniture, etc.," he listed.
"Sorry to not live up to your expectations," I giggled.
"It's okay, I like your room. It has a relaxing vibe," he laid back, propping his head with his arms. "Blue is a very chill color,"
"Why are you looking so deeply into the concept of my room?" He was blabbering about this to cover up for something else. I know Ricky is a talkative person, but I also know when he tries to distract from another subject.
I turned sideways to be able to look him in the eyes, "Why are you here?"
"Peypey!" Vikki screeched. "Don't be wude to guests!"
"It's okay, hun. He's a friend of mine," I smiled, trying to reassure her.
She looked me dead in the eyes for a few seconds until she moved her attention to Ricky. "Did she huwt youw feelings?"
"Maybe just a little bit," Ricky shrugged.
I instantly slapped him on the arm. He's trying to turn my own little sister on me. "He's lyi-"
"Apologize," she stated seriously.
"Fine," I rolled my eyes for having to do something that was pointless. Anything to make Vikki happy. "I'm sorry, Ricky,"
"Do you accept?" She was now looking at Ricky with sympathetic eyes. How come he gets the sympathy?
"It'll be hard to so, but I'll try my best," he replied dramatically. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
"Vikki, how about you go find a board game for us to play," I gave out this idea just to pass time and get alone time to get Ricky to open up. She left with a skip in her step and went on to her search. "Now you," turning back to Ricky. "Why are you here?"
"Because my parents wanted to have dinner with your parents?"
"My parents have never mentioned any Carters ever,"
"Maybe my parents value the friendship more than yours do,"
"Shut the hell up and answer me honestly,"
He looked at me questioningly before he sighed. "I was worried about you and needed a reason to come and see you. So I made my parents chat up with your parents to help me out,"
"Why would you be worried?"
"You've shut out everyone but your family and Rein. I missed talking to you, being around you, just you in general," he was looking me straight in the eyes with the most serious eyes I've ever seen him show. He's always the upbeat and playful one of my friends. Seeing him so serious makes me respect him more as a person.
