Chapter 18

Peyton's POV

My parents and Vikki came home about twenty minutes after Sawyer left. Vikki ran through the door with her arms open wide and gave me a hug. I bent down to her level so I could hug her back.

"I got the most pwettiest dwess!" she pulled away from me to show me her huge smile. A smile that had her front teeth missing. She keeps telling me about how she can't wait to see her big girl teeth.

I returned the smile and stood back up, "You'll have to show me how it looks when you get all your clothes put away,"

"I can't wait," she ran upstairs to her bedroom and left me with my parents.

Even though my dad and I left things on a good hand, apparently, my mother felt otherwise. I could tell by the way she was giving me the cold shoulder. My dad shrugged his shoulders as my mom followed to go to Vikki's room with her stuff.

"She's just upset you didn't tell her last night," he patted my back as if he was trying to comfort me. He was never good at dealing with girl feelings. "She thought you two built up enough trust that you both didn't question another. You know how her mother was, she's afraid you feel the way she did against her mother. Just give her sometime and she'll act like nothing happened by morning," he left to go to with Mom and Vikki.

It was now seven in the evening and I didn't know what to do. Dad is working in his office, while my mom is playing with Vikki in her room. I'm so happy Vikki warmed up to us so fast. As soon as she walked through the door, I felt like I have known her since she was a baby, like she was my sister. I couldn't wait to be that person she comes to when she needs some boy advice. Cause let's be honest here, I've been through hell with the ones I know.

I walked up to my room and called Rein to come over. But I quickly hung up when I realized I'm grounded. The only reason Sawyer could be here being because my parents were gone. My parents are going to be home a lot more now since Vikki is here. Except when they have meetings on Friday evenings, they'll be gone all day those days. That just means more alone time for me to hang out with Vikki and not be interrupted by my mother to take her away from me. At the same time, I'm happy my mom is having so much fun with Vikki, but Vikki needs more than a best friend, she needs a parent. I plan on being the little figure for her at the same time showing her that she can tell me anything. It may be hard, but Vikki needs is. She deserves it.

I heard my phone alert me of a text. I looked over and saw it was from Sawyer.

I really enjoyed my day with you:)

I was surprised he sent a smiley face and not a winky face. Bravo, Sawyer.

I was hoping I could take you out on our first date tomorrow

Me

Sorry, I can't. I'm grounded for a week.

Sawyer

That sucks balls

Me

So do you.

Sawyer

Shut up.

I'll take you tomorrow. I can help you sneak out.

I was actually considering it. He wasn't being a very good influence. But I'm enjoying it.
