"Obviously, it's not going to be particularly... Comfortable. But if we can slow your heart rate down enough, you'll slip into a trance-like state." Deaton tells us as I watch Stiles, Scott and Derek pour bags of Ice in a bathtub of water.
"Like being hypnotized." Isaac says as we walk into the room.
"Exactly. You'll be half transformed. It'll let us access your subconscious mind." Deaton nods his head. Isaac bends down to the tub.
"Why do you need me?" I look at Deaton.
"Usually since this has to do with the mind, Guardian's abilities have stuff to do with the mind. Once he slips into the trance, you'll be in the tub with him looking through his mind. If he doesn't talk then there is always getting the information from your mind." Deaton says. I nod my head unsure. We have to do this.
"How slow does his heart rate need to be?" Scott asked.
"Very slow." Deaton replies back.
"Okay, well, how slow is very slow?" Derek asked trying to get an exact answer.
"Nearly dead." Deaton shrugs his shoulders. Isaac touches the ice water pulling back his hand from the cold.
"It's safe, though, right?" Isaac looks up from the tub.
"Do you want me to answer honestly?" Deaton looks at him.
"No. No, not really." Isaac shakes his head as we hear the sound of rubber being slung. We all look up and see Stiles with a glove on.
"Stiles." I look at him sternly.
"What?" Stiles asked. I shake my head at him as he takes the glove off and throws it.
"Look, if it feels too risky, you guys don't have to do this." Derek tells Isaac and I. This was more of Isaac. He is the one close to death not me. Isaac looks at me.
"I can't do it if you don't. Im ok with whatever you decide." I shrug my shoulders. Isaac takes his shirt off and throws it on the table. He gets into the tub as Scott and Derek hold him. Isaac nods his head as they submerge him down. Seconds later he comes back up shifted fighting them off.
"Get him back under. Hold him." Deaton shouts.
"We're trying!" Derek yells back in frustration. They dunk him back down as his body finally becomes still and quiet.
"Now, remember, only I talk to him. Too many voices will confuse him and draw him out."
"Isaac? Can you hear me?" Deaton asked Isaac. Isaac laid there quietly for a few seconds.
"Yes. I can hear you." Isaac answers.
"This is Dr. Deaton. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Is that all right?"
"Yes." Isaac says. Deaton looks at me and nods his head. I take off my jacket and get into the tub. Both legs in between Isaac. I press the palm of my hands to his temple. His eyes open wide flashing yellow then close. I face forward staring past Derek and Scott as my eyes glow purple.
"I want to ask you about the night you found Erica and Boyd. I want you to remember it for me in as vivid detail as possible, like you're actually there again." Deaton says.
"I, I don't wanna do that. I don't... I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna do that." Isaac struggles. I could feel him squirming.
"Isaac, it's all right. Just relax. They're just memories. You can't be hurt by a memory." Deaton tries to calm him down. I grit my teeth as the images were fuzzy.
"I don't wanna do that." Isaac says. The lights start to flicker.
"Relax. Relax. Good. Now let's go back to that night. To the place you found Erica and Boyd. Can you tell me what you see? Is there some kind of building? A house?" Deaton asked. An image flashes across my head. It was Isaac's hand tracing along the walls. Marble.
