He covered you in gasoline?" Derek looks at Parish. Apparently someone tried to kill Parish by setting him on fire. He lived. He was smothered in gasoline and set on fire but yet came in the sheriff's department killed his fellow Deputy who in fact set him on fire. His clothes are burned off at some of his skin was burnt off but look like it was repaired magically. He some sort of Supernatural but I don't know what it could.
"It's the hair and nails, isn't it? The parts of the body that are essentially dead." Lydia says.
"Well, they should be gone." Derek scoffs.
"I was set on fire. All of me should be gone." Parish looks at us.
"Not if you're like us." Scott says.
"Like you?" Parish repeats.
"I don't think he's like us." Derek says as he looks over Parish again.
"Then what is he?" Lydia stares at the deputy.
"Sorry, but I have no idea." Derek gives in.
"But you knew about Jackson and Kira." Scott looks at Derek.
"This is a little out of my experience. There might be something in the bestiary. Did you try Argent?" Derek asked.
"I don't know where he is." Scott shakes his head.
"Okay, hold on. What's a bestiary? Actually, that's not even my first question. Just Just tell me one thing. Are all of you like Lydia? Are you all psychic?" Parish ask us. I think he has a thing for Lydia.
"Psychic?" Derek looks at him confused.
"Yeah." Parush nods his head.
"Not exactly." Scott thinks.
"Okay. Then what are you?" Parish asked. We look at Scott who looks at Derek. Derek nods his head as Scott shows his true eyes.
"What the hell?" He asked. Derek and I turn to Parish and show our eyes. Scott and Derek tell him everything and I mean EVERYTHING.
"What's a Kanima?" Parish asked.
"We'll get back to that. Just know that everyone like us, everyone with some kind of supernatural ability is on the dead pool." Scott tells him.
"But I don't even know what I am." Parish shakes his head.
"I'm pretty sure they don't care." Derek crosses his arms.
"How many professional assassins are we talking about?" Parish asked.
"We're starting to lose count." Lydia sighs.
But is it still just professionals?" Scott asked.
"I don't think Haigh's ever tried anything like this. I think he was taking a chance." Paeish thinks.
"That means anyone with the dead pool could take a chance." Derek points out.
"But if Haigh had it, then who else does? How easy is it to get this thing now?" Parish asked.
"Meredith was only at my grandmother's lakehouse once. But I think once was enough." Lydia starts.
"How did your grandmother know her?" Derek asked.
"She didn't. She found her. Because of another woman named Maddy. The woman she loved. I never met her, but I saw her name everywhere. She used to be part of a yacht racing team. There were plaques and trophies in the lake house from all the regattas she'd won." Lydia continues.
"How did she die?" Parish asked.
"How's not the story. It's what happened right before. My grandmother, Lorraine, used to work in San Francisco for IBM.
She was there on a weekend, catching up on work. She started hearing this sound Like rain. But when she looked out the windows All she saw was blue sky."
But she kept hearing the rain?" Scott asked as Lydia nods her head.
"And it just kept getting louder. Rain and thunder cracking like gunshots in her head. So loud. She finally just screamed."
"Like a Banshee." Derek states.
"She called Maddy who was planning on taking one of the boats out on the lake. But Maddy said that the sun was shining there too. So Lorraine didn't say anything." Lydia paces around the room and shakes her head.
"There was an accident?" Parish recalls.
"It took them four days to find Maddy's body. And then it took decades to figure out how Lorraine knew. She started with parapsychologists, like the PhD in their name made it more scientific. They built the study in the lake house according to every pseudoscientific theory they could find. None of it worked. So then she started going to more extreme occult. Things like mediums and psychics. All of them were failures.
Until she found Meredith. They found her in Eichen House. This fragile girl who didn't understand the things she heard. They brought her to the study. And they almost killed her. She was hospitalized for over a year. She never really recovered. My grandmother drove her insane. I drove her to suicide. And all she ever wanted to do was help. My grandmother created the code for the dead pool. They think she's the Banshee who put the names out in the first place. She left me this message in the same code.
"But she didn't leave a cipher key, did she?" Scott asked. Lydia shakes her head.
"We'll figure it out. We always do. One way or another. You did nothing wrong. You didn't drive her to Suicide. She made the decision. She could have denied access to us for visitors but she didn't. She did this on her own. Everyone needs to get some sleep it's late we've been through a lot already." I rub her shoulder. Lydia nods her head and takes off to home. Parish gets into his Deputy cars I watch him from the window making sure he makes it home safely. Scott and I get ready to leave.
"Careful with that." Derek's voice echoes the room. I turn around and see Scott holding a handgun.
"I thought you didn't like guns. Does this have something to do with your eyes?" Scott asked him.
"My eyes, my strength, the healing - All of it." Derek looks down at the floor.
"Gone?" Scott asked.
"Whatever Kate did to me, it's still happening." Derek takes the gun from Scott and looks at it.
"If the dead pool really was made by a Banshee then there's something else that you should know about. Your name broke the third list. It was a cipher key."
"Why didnt you tell me?" I look at both of them. Derek for not telling me it has been increasingly getting worse for him and Scott not telling me his name was a cipher key.
"And the two other keys were Allison and Aiden." Derek smirks.
"And I I don't want to make you nervous, but it kind of feels like there might be a pattern there, doesn't it? Allison, Aiden You." Scott stutters.
"Names picked by a Banshee." Derek nods his head.
"It It could mean that you're in danger." Scott says.
"Scott, Banshees don't predict danger. They predict death." Derek nods his head.
"Which isnt happening." I shake my head.
"You can't stop it." Derek looks at us.
"We can try." Scott says as Derek nods his head.
"Come on, we got school tomorrow." Scott says. I follow him out and head straight back to the house.
