Liam's POV
Emily had fallen asleep at about three in the morning. I had put up the tent that was in my bag about an hour before she had gone to sleep so when she closed her eyes I picked her up and laid her down inside the tent. There was a double blow up mattress and a double duvet as well as pillow. I wanted us to camp outside like we had done many times before but I didn't want Emily to be uncomfortable. She stirred when I picked her up but didn't wake up. I kissed her head and zipped up the tent before laying down next to her and pulling the duvet over us, moving close to her to keep her warm.
I woke up to Emily shaking my shoulders and saying my name, making worry flood through me.
"What? "What's wrong?", I said sitting upright.
"I really need the toilet", she whined. I had completely forgotten about her need to go to the toilet about fifty times a day and I honestly didn't even know where the nearest toilet was.
"I don't know where they are", I said and she groaned.
"Well I refuse to piss in the bushes", she said grumpily.
I got out of the tent and started getting all of out stuff together, shoving the blanket and everything else into the bag. Emily was standing up with her hand on her stomach, just watching me. I know she would help if she wasn't so desperate for the toilet. I quickly took the tent down and shoved it into the bag and grabbed the last few bits off of the floor. We walked hastily in the direction of the car and jumped in as soon as I unlocked the door.
We got back to the hotel and Emily headed straight to the bathroom cursing under her breath.
"That's better, sorry about that", she said.
"Sorry for what? Needing the toilet?" I laughed and she rolled her eyes.
"No, for having to rush back here instead of spending more time together", I sat on the bed and she sat on my lap. I wrapped my arms around her and shook my head.
"Don't be silly, last night was perfect and I was stupid for not thinking about toilets", I chuckled.
She buried her head into my neck and laughed.
"What did you want to do today? Louis is spending the day with Eleanor since we're leaving LA tomorrow and I don't know what plans the other boys have", I explained and her face looked thoughtful.
"You'd think I'm crazy if I told you what I wanted to do", she said, sounding sort of embarrassed.
"I already think you're crazy", I joked, "but we can do anything you want to do."
"I want to see my parents", she said seriously and I couldn't hide the disapproving look on my face.
"Em, I'm not sure that's a good idea", I told her in the kindest way I could.
"Look, I know, I know what will happen, my mum will tell me what she thinks and I'll get mad at her. But they've never actually met you, they don't know you, maybe she'll like you. Plus, I know my dad wants to meet you even if he doesn't admit it, he's proud of me and happy for us. So please Liam, this is my last chance to see them for god knows how long." She ranted and I could tell how desperate she was for me to meet them.
"Fine, but please just promise me you won't get your hopes up about your mum liking me?", she grinned as I said this and nodded her head. She skipped over to the chair by the dresser and picked up her floral dress. She changed into it and did her makeup quickly. I got changed too and she was ready within twenty minutes.
"Ready?" I asked her and she nodded. I could tell she was nervous but that she was also excited.
I held her hand and we went down to the car we had rented yesterday. I sent the boys a text to tell them where we were and put the car into gear. I followed the directions on the satnav for about fifteen minutes before pulling up outside Emily's parents house. She took a deep breath as we got out of the car and walked hand in hand towards the door. Emily knocked and I immediately head someone approaching the door. A tall brown haired man wearing a blue shirt and a pair of jeans was now stood in front of me.
"Emily", he said in a startled tone.
"Hey", she raised her hand in an awkward wave.
"Hi, err, I'm Liam", I held out my hand awkwardly offering him a handshake. He surprised me by shaking my hand firmly and smiling.
"Liam, it's nice to finally meet you". his voice was more friendly than I had expected and he seemed genuinely pleased to meet me.
"It's nice to meet you to", I said, returning the smile. I felt Emily squeeze my hand and I knew she was grateful.
He invited us in and called to his wife to announce that we were here.
The three of us sat down in the lounge and waited for Emily's mum. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and Emily shifted nervously in her seat. Her mum entered the room and although I had seen pictures of her I had never realised just how much she looked like Emily. They had the exact same blonde coloured hair and the same bright blue eyes, how was it possible for them to be so different at the same time?
"Hi mum", Emily said standing up. To mine, and by the look on her face, Emily's surprise, her mum stepped forwards and hugged her.
He mum then looked towards me nervously and held out a hand and said "I take it you're Liam", she said and I could tell that the smile on her face was fake. I shook her hand and introduced myself. It was a really surreal experience. Emily had met my entire family and I had never even met her parents after six years of being together.
After talking for a while Emily's mum went to the toilet and her dad went into the kitchen to get us all a drink, leaving me and Emily alone for a minute.
"This is going so well, I think my mum actually likes you, she's never seemed this interested in the wedding or asked about the babies until today, thank you so much for this", Emily whispered to me. I was surprised at what she said, I had assumed that her parents were just being polite.
"I'm glad to hear that", I told her and kissed her gently on the cheek just as her mum walked back into the room.
We stayed talking to Emily's parents for most of the day and we even had lunch there. Emily looked so happy and things had gone so much better than I had expected. When we had finished eating Emily's mum asked Emily to go out into the garden with her for a chat and Emily obliged. I was left alone with her dad and we talked about the tour and his job and surprisingly got along really well.
Emily's POV*
"Everything okay?", I asked my mum, my voice was shakier that I had intended and I cleared my throat trying to shake the nerves.
"I wanted to apologize", she began, "It appears that I've been wrong about Liam, and about you for that matter. I thought that because you're so young and you were only a teenager when you met him that things would just fizzle out. But then today I realised that that boy is so completely in love with you I didn't even think it was possible. He very clearly cares about you and respects you and I'm sorry for ever doubting that. You're going to be wonderful parents and I can't believe how much I've missed because of my selfishness and I would really like to make that up to you." Tears were now rolling down her cheeks and I was practically sobbing. I had definitely not been expecting this from her. I had no idea what to say in response to that so instead I practically flung myself at her, wrapping my arms around her. She hugged me back and kept apologizing in my ear.
"I love you sweetheart, and I really am so sorry", she said through her sobs.
"I forgive you mum, I love you too", I cried back.
