Ethan's POV

"What?" I stared up at Mark. "Who? When? Why?" I bit my lip. "Sorry. You must not want to talk about it." I said. We were both silent for a moment.

"Sean." He broke the silence. "As in, green hair? Loud little Irishman that'll yell your ears off?" I asked. He nodded.

"He sent me a text Sunday night saying we should see other people. Then on Monday I come to school and find out he's dating that new guy, Felix." I could tell he was upset.

"Are you okay?" I asked. Mark looked down at me. "I don't know."

Mark's POV

"Hey Ethan?" I asked after a moment. Ethan and I had gotten to my house about an hour ago and we'd been working diligently. We had finished a sort of outline for our assignment and were still debating just how we wanted to set it up when I changed the subject.

Ethan hummed softly in response. I took a breath. "Thanks for listening to me earlier. I know it was kind of random." Ethan looked up at me. "Of course Mark. I'm always here to listen." I smiled.

"Hey it's almost five, ready to order some pizza?" I asked, checking the time. Ethan nodded. "Plain cheese for me please."

I ordered the pizza and came back. I stood by the door awkwardly.

"So," I began, "do you like jazz?"

Ethan glared at me. "Boi."

"What?" I laughed. Ethan just shook his head.

"Well anyway, we've gotten quite a bit done. You wanna watch a movie or something?" I asked. "Yeah sure. What movie?" Ethan responded, starting to pack up his work.

We checked Netflix and Amazon Prime before deciding on Sherlock Holmes.

(A/N- not BBC Sherlock, Warner Brothers Sherlock Holmes)

Plus it had a sequel and we wanted to hang out for a while longer so why not?

Ethan's POV

I sat next to Mark and bit my lip nervously. I didn't want to bother him or anything but I needed the help. I took a deep breath before speaking.

"Hey Mark, I'm actually having some trouble in a lot of my classes. Is there any way you could maybe help me?" I asked shyly. Mark looked at me and smiled. "Of course! I've got a lot of free time so I can totally help." I smiled.

"Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother or anything." I said.

"If nothing else, I'm certain of two things." He said, looking me in the eye. "One, Foxy's a big ol' bag of dicks." I busted out laughing. "And two, I'm not going to let you fail."

He smiled down at me and I felt something shift inside me. I blinked and suddenly everything was different. His dark hair looked incredibly soft and his smile felt as bright and as warm as the sun. And his eyes...my god his eyes were beautiful.

I forced myself to focus. I smiled a little. "Thanks Mark." He smiled at me again. "No problem."

I turned my attention back to the screen, still smiling.

But wait, you've only known Mark for five fucking days.

You can't possibly like-like him.

Can you?
