Prompt: Could you do one on where Nate and Jude are relieved once Ethan has deleted the video and maybe Jude gets a little emotional from knowing that he won't be separated from his best friend?? :D

Okay so this prompt takes place right after Ethan deletes the video, and he, Will, and Asher leave Nate's room (chapter 23 of Changing WIll, I believe). So, enjoy Jude being emotional c:

Nate’s bedroom door shut and he slumped against me, his face pale. I couldn’t stop staring at the door in disbelief.

Ethan had to be screwing with us. Why would he just delete that video? He had the chance to take revenge against us, so why wouldn’t he?

“Jude, he won’t tell anyone,” Nate said, still slumped against me. His head fell back, resting on mine. “I saw the look in his eyes. He won’t do it. I don’t know if he’s too scared to, or if it’s because he’s really just being a good person. But we’re safe.”

I turned my head as Nate lifted his. I stared at him, trying to imagine my life without Nate. I knew how his parents were. I knew they would separate us if they knew about the things we did to people like Ethan and Benji.

Nate had been my best friend since preschool. When things got rough at my house, Nate would let me stay at his as long as I needed to.

He put up with me no matter what I did. He helped me with my schemes, and had helped me scare off Benji. He had helped me get with Gideon.

I wasn’t the type of person to go bitching my feelings, but I had opened up to Nate more than anyone else. He had always been a part of my life. He had always had my back.

I just couldn’t imagine my life without Nate in it.

“Jude? Are you okay? You’re pale. And that’s saying something, considering the fact that you’re the tannest person I know,” Nate said.

I couldn’t help myself; my emotions took over and I found myself wrapping my arms around Nate, holding him close to me. My vision blurred with tears and I pressed my face against his shoulder in embarrassment.

“Jude, it’s okay,” Nate said quietly, hugging me back tightly. “It’s over. He won’t do it. We’re safe.”

“I can’t imagine my life without you in it,” I mumbled.

“I thought he was going to show my parents. I tried to picture my life without you, and I just couldn’t do it. You’ve been my best friend for way too long, Jude,” he said.

“I won’t let him. I won’t let anyone pull us apart,” I promised him, pulling away so I could look him in the eyes.

He offered me a small smile and playfully punched my shoulder. “You’ve got my back and I’ve got your back, Judes.”

I shoved him. “Don’t call me Judes.” A small smile spread over my face.

I slung an arm around Nate’s shoulders. Yes, I was embarrassed at having shown that much weak emotion.

But I was just damn glad I still had my best friend.

“We made a promise when we were kids,” Nate said.

“Best friends forever,” I said with a nod.

“This is getting too mushy for me,” he said.

I grinned. “I know. Me too. You’re my best friend, asshole.”

                “Always, Judes,” he said.

I laid down, my head resting comfortably in his lap. He handed me a controller so we could play video games, and I couldn’t help but smile. I wasn’t going to let anyone take my best friend from me.
