Chapter 46, Goodbye Elena Gilbert

Damon awoke to see he was holding Elena's jacket still, he walked over to the oval shaped mirror with it and glanced at his reflection, he stared widely and then put the jacket down and then changed into his suit and tie, he did his tie neatly and then just stood glancing at himself for a while and then held up the picture of Elena, she was smiling widely and had curls in her hair, tears rolled down his cheeks and then he wiped his eyes and walked out, Stefan, klaus, Elijah, Jeremy and Matt waited downstairs in their suits. Caroline held Elena's dress and then Damon stopped her and she flinched.

"Caroline.. I'm sorry, please wear the dress.. Elena would want you to" Damon smiled

"Thank you Damon.." Caroline smiled and went back in her room

"You ready for this?" Stefan asked

"Ready to say goodbye to the love of my life? Who's ever gonna be ready for that?" Damon asked and frowned

"Damon she would be proud of you.." Matt smiled

"Thank you deputy Donovan" Damon smirked

"You're welcome" Matt nodded

"Is everyone ready?" Rebekah asked as she held Alannah

Alannah wore a knee length black dress and had her hair straightened, she looked just like Elena, Damon smiled and so did Stefan, Rebekah and the girls wore different styled dresses and then they walked out with Lizzie, Josie and Alannah. Damon held the coffin with Stefan klaus Elijah and Matt and Tyler and Jeremy who just turned up. They arrived at the church, it was the most beautiful scenery they had seen, the blue sky risen above their heads, they all walked into the church and Seliene sat with them as the boys put the coffins and the photos at the front and sat down, Damon placed Alannah on Bonnies lap and watched Stefan as he went up to the front and music started to play.

"Thank you, everyone for coming to Elena's funeral, Elena was an amazing inspirational woman and none of us could ever forget her... Elena was my first real love, the first time I met her it was incredible, she wasn't like any other girl, she was good, she was harmless but she was hard on herself and broken but she was the kindest woman you could ever meet, I'll always love you Elena" Stefan smiled and walked down from the front

Bonnie walked up and smiled, she stood at the front and glanced at the pictures of Elena and cried, Caroline went up and hugged her and then they read their speeches.

"Elena was our best friend, like our sister" Bonnie cried

"She was so full of light and looked for the best in everyone" Caroline cried

"She didn't deserve to die" Bonnie cried

"She should be here" Caroline cried

"We love you Elena" Bonnie cried

"We are now going to play the song that was at Elena's moms funeral" caroline smiled

They started to play she used to be mine and then damon went up, everyone watched and he kissed his hand and then placed it on Elena's coffin, he stood up at the front and cleared his throat.

"I chose this song because Elena was mine, she was always mine, Elena was warm and she saw the good in me when nobody else did, she was my light and i still remember how much she loved me and how much i loved her. We were complicated but we were both broken and lonely, i fount my happiness in her, who is damon salvatore without Elena Gilbert? I don't know the answer to that question because she made me who i was and without her, i have no hope, no light.. no happiness, she wasn't just some ordinary girl from the block, she was strong and independant and she fought for everyone and everything she believed him, i lived without her for 60 years and now i have to for eternity, she was the first girl who ever loved me and i'm damaged because i don't want to be a horrible monster but Elena was my girlfriend and we planned decades together, children, a home.. a happy life and now its gone.. shes gone, and i blame myself everyday for not protecting her, i'm the selfish one and she was selfless, i stole my brothers girl because i was in love and now im in love saying goodbye to the girl i love, to spend an eternity without someone you love by you're side and to realise you have to move on, it breaks you're heart, but i love you Elena.. and i always will till death do us part and in our afterlife and i will return to you because no matter how far away you are soaring up in that sky, my heart will find yours again and i promised to never leave you Elena Gilbert and i will keep my word, I will always love you and we will be together again" Damon smiled and placed a rose on her coffin and stepped down and sat back with alannah.

"That was beautiful.. well done" Bonnie cried

"Thank you bon bon" damon faintly smiled

"Alannah its you're turn.." caroline cried

Alannah went up and smiled and tears rolled down her cheeks and everyone smiled at her, damon went up with her and picked her up.

"Mummy you are beautiful and you're in a better place with no pain, daddy misses you and so do all of us, you are amazing mummy, please come home soon i dont want daddy to cry anymore" alannah cried and tyler stood up as they walked away

"Elena was my best friend, she was so loyal and understood me better than anyone. If only she was here to see the life i made for myself with a beautiful wife and 2 kids, I'm proud of you elena, you did good, sleep tight, Goodbye Elena Gilbert.. you'll never be forgotten" Tyler cried and put photos of them on her coffin and sat down as Seliene and lizzie and josie went up.

"I didn't know Elena well but she supported my husband so much and she was so lovely, Damon was so lucky to find someone so selfless like her, Rest in peace Elena" Seliene smiled

"Aunty elena we miss you!! Please come home and colour with us again we love you so much!!" Lizzie and josie cried as they spoke in sync and they all sat down as Matt went up

"Elena was my first girlfriend, she was so genuine and honest and kind and she had an amazing life, she was the strongest out of all of us, she lost her adoptive mom and her adoptive dad, her aunt, her real father and her real mother, she lost her house, she lost everything and she still kept going, i love you Elena and i always will and you will come home, sleep for now, rest peacefully" matt smiled and walked down as Klaus, elijah and rebekah and hayley and jeremy and katherine came up.

"Elena was a selfless human being and she didn't deserve to die, we had our rough patches but she was a good person" Rebekah frowned

"I had no idea how different Elena was, she was so genuine and honest and she was a keeper, she always told the truth and she knew how to keep a smile on someones face" Elijah frowned

"Elena was my sister, I loved her so much and i always will, she always looked out for me more than anyone, she never let me go and she was amazing, Sleep tight sis" Jeremy cried

"I didn't know Elena very well but she was an honest person, very sarcastic but there was nothing bad to say about her" Klaus smiled

"Elena was amazing she was truly amazing, she brought the best out in Damon and Stefan and defended and fought for everyone she loved, she was a passionate young woman taken too soon" hayley frowned

"Elena was my doppelganger, we never got along but she listened to me when nobody else would, She told me in her final moments in her head that i was a good person, she made me a better person" Katherine mumbled

They all stepped down and everyone sat back down, and then Damon was just left alone with Elena as he opened the lid to her coffin.
