THE AWAKENING

Chapter 26, Human

Damon was stranded out and fount himself in a box in the ocean, he choked and choked and coughed up water, he needed Elena and then he saw Sabrina through the tiny boxed window. He slammed on it and she laughed and laughed and laughed, he screamed in pain with blood wounds and screamed to the sound of his name.

"Damon!! Damon!!" Someone called and shook him

Damon opened his eyes to see a brown haired doctor in front of him and then she left and closed the door, he was connected to a machine and he could still see cuts on his hands from the accident, he realised he dreamt a nightmare and he didn't know where he was and then he saw Stefan beside him.

"Stefan?" Damon asked

"How you feeling? You blacked out for a while" Stefan sighed

"What happened, Stefan why aren't my wounds healing?" Damon asked

"Damon you need to calm down" Stefan looked down

"No Stefan I want you to tell me why my wounds aren't healing!!" Damon shouted impatiently

"You're human Damon!!" Stefan shouted

"Human? No thats impossible, I didn't take the cure" Damon frowned

"Well you're human, you nearly died this morning and i tried to feed you my blood and it didn't work, you're human Damon" Stefan explained

"Where's Elena?" Damon asked

"She's with Hayley and Rebekah back at the safe house, You need to get out of here Damon, you have too many enemies and if word gets out that you're human, you will die" Stefan sighed

"Well Stefan I have no where else to go" Damon looked down

"Atlanta has a safe house, its been secured no vampire entry unless you invite them in including doors and the windows are barried from anything or anyone, you can stay there" Stefan announced

"You didn't tell Elena i'm in here did you?" Damon asked

"No of course not, the last thing we need is a raging human ex girlfriend of yours trying to break in a hospital, she doesn't know, she's still drowning her sorrows since you left" Stefan frowned

"Thank you.." Damon paused

"Don't thank me Damon, i'm doing this for you because you're my brother and if anything happened to you Elena would kill me" Stefan grinned

"I know.." Damon paused

"Come on let me help you up" Stefan offered and picked Damon up

Damon and Stefan walked out of the hospital and got into the car, Stefan drove miles and miles and saw his phone ringing with the name 'Elena' he answered and put her on speakerphone and video chat as Damon sat at the back hiding himself

"Elena, whats up?" Stefan asked

"Where are you?" Elena asked

"just driving around, I've got to go Elena" Stefan straightened his face

"Stefan.. have you heard from Damon?" Elena asked

"No.. Elena we'll talk when I get back" Stefan smiled

"Okay, see you soon" Elena smiled and ended the call

Damon frowned as he saw how gorgeous she looked and that he would never see that face again for as long as he lived. He missed her smile, her laugh and her love. He smiled and looked down and then Stefan sighed.

"You need to speak to her Damon" Stefan suggested

"I said goodbye.. i'm not doing it again" Damon sighed

"She's in pieces everyday because of you" Stefan sighed

"I know but I will go back to her soon, right now I'm trying to be focused on how to not get killed by a vamp warrior squad" Damon raised his voice and sarcastically spoke

"Sarcasm? Damon i'm trying to help, don't start" Stefan warned

Damon and stefan pulled up outside of a beautiful grand brown cladded house which looked like Elena's parents cottage in the woods, Damon smiled as he remembered it and then frowned as Elena wasn't there to see it. They walked inside and it was all elegant and posh, satin sofas and satin walls and satin floors all white and dark blue details, Stefan closed the door and windows and Damon sat down in the comfy satin dark blue chair with white and dark blue curtains. Stefan smiled faintly and got loads of food out and put them on the table in front of Damon.

"So how am i human?" Damon asked while chewing a burger

"I have no idea, I'm going to check medical reports later, you have to stay here and i have to go look after you're girl" Stefan frowned

"Just make sure she knows I'm sorry and that i'll come back soon" Damon frowned

"I will, see you soon, ring me if anyone knocks on this door" Stefan ordered and walked out

Elena was sat at home in the safe house wrapped up in her bed and watched videos of her and Damon, Stefan walked in with lots of chips and curry sauce and she smiled and then turned the TV off, Stefan sat on the edge of the white duvet and smiled widely noticing her reaction to the golden chips in her hands.

"Damon called me" Stefan sighed

"Really.. what did he say?" Elena asked

"He can't come back but he promises he will and that he's really sorry" Stefan mumbled

"Oh.." Elena paused

"Elena there's something you need to know" Stefan sighed

"What?" Elena asked

"Those chips... were 50 percent off!" Stefan exclaimed

"I hate you so much, you got me excited" Elena laughed

"I know, that was the aim of the game" Stefan grinned

"Thank you for this Stefan, I didn't think you would like me anymore" Elena frowned

"I'll always love you Elena... Enjoy you're chips, I've got to go out, I'll come back soon" Stefan smiled and walked out

She watched from the window as he got in his car and drove off, Elena quickly got out of bed and ran outside and got in her car and followed Stefan, she travelled for miles and miles and then saw the sigh "Atlanta" she looked confused and then saw Stefan pull up so she turned into an empty drive way and ducked down and hid behind a bush to see a gorgeous house made of brown cladding and a beautiful garden in the back and then she saw Stefan get out of the car and she noticed who opened the door, his black t-shirt showing his muscles and his dark hair and his dark jeans...

"Damon..." Elena Whispered
