Chapter 49, The End Of An Era

Caroline returned home and Damon was packing his bags and alannah's too and so were Bonnie and Enzo, Caroline, Lizzie and Josie stayed In mystic falls as Klaus came downstairs. Tyler was in the car with Seliene and their children and they drove off to Sydney. Matt and his daughter and Jeremy stayed in mystic falls too, Caroline smiled as she saw all of her family together except from Stefan and Elena.

"Damon you're leaving too?" Caroline asked

"I can't stay here no longer" Damon frowned

"Bonnie?" Caroline asked and cried

"I'm sorry care, I can't either, it's too hard" Bonnie frowned

"I'm so sorry for everything that's happened to us" Caroline cried

"It's not you're fault" Damon shook his head and hugged Caroline

"Bye bye aunty Caroline! And aunty Bonnie!" Alannah smiled

"Goodbye beautiful" Caroline smiled faintly

"Goodbye Alannah" Bonnie frowned

"Bonnie.. Good luck out there" Damon smiled

"Damon you're gonna be okay, you'll make it, I believe In you I promise and Elena is so proud of you, you're gonna be okay" Bonnie smiled and hugged him

Bonnie and Enzo walked out and smiled widely and they zoomed off into the world of Paris. Damon and Alannah grabbed their bags and said goodbye to everyone and walked out. Klaus and Caroline were stood there with Lizzie and Josie and Caroline cried into klaus's arms and he held her tight as the girls hugged her legs.

"I have nobody left klaus" Caroline cried

"No love you have me, I'm here" klaus smiled

"Thank you" she cried

Rebekah, Jeremy, Matt and Sophia and Elijah walked in and smiled widely, the were going to stay in mystic falls with Caroline and klaus and her girls. Jeremy hugged Caroline tight and Rebekah hugged klaus tight. They had to stick together and then Bonnie and Enzo drove miles in the car.

"Do you think we made the best decision?" Bonnie asked

"Yes love, too much has happened in Mystic Falls" Enzo frowned

"I know, I just wish it didn't have to be this way" Bonnie frowned

"It's okay love, you've got me and you'll always have me" Enzo smiled

"Thank you Enzo.. You're taking me back to Paris and I bought you t-shirts, t-shirts!" Bonnie laughed

"Bonnie Bennett you are the gift I've always wanted, that's enough for me, to spend an eternity with a sexy feisty witch, who wouldn't want that?" Enzo laughed and smirked

"I love you Enzo St. John" Bonnie smiled

"And I love you Bonnie Bennett" Enzo smiled

He leaned over and they kissed and then he went back to driving down roads and lanes and then, Damon and Alannah pulled up outside the church and walked in, they opened Elena's coffin and Damon took one last look at her, her beautiful dress showing her slim figure and her thin tanned legs. Her brown hair curled at the ends perfectly defined and her eyeshadow and eyelashes on point. He loved her more than anyone did and anyone could see that, he didn't want to leave her but he had to and he knew she would want him to move on and make a better life for their daughter, he stood up and trailed his finger down her cheek stroking it gently and Alannah smiled widely and held her mothers hand gently too.

"You really do love her Don't you daddy?" Alannah asked

"I do" Damon faintly smiled

"She's so beautiful" Alannah smiled

"I know she is" Damon grinned and looked down at the love of his life

"I'm going to go to the car, I'll be back in a minute" Alannah smiled and ran off

"Elena Gilbert... Time will stand still without you no matter where you are, I should be making a happy joyful life with our daughter and that's what I'm going to do, you're dying wish was to have me bring her up, I love you Elena and I don't know what to do without you.. But what I do know is that you will always be in my heart no matter what path we take, I may not be right here next to you but I'll be with you always, and I promise we'll make it back to each other, maybe not now or later but it will happen and I can see you're beautiful smile again, I'll see you soon pouty and I will love you until I take my last breath on this earth and after that, you were amazing to everyone and you were so selfless, I love you Elena... I'll be home soon but until then, hold onto that" Damon smiled and held her hand and stroked her hair

Damon removed his hand and kissed her gently on the lips one last time and then shut the coffin and locked it tight. He walked out and got back in the car to see Alannah at the back playing with her monkey teddy and he smiled and smiled as he went onto his new adventure with his daughter, they drove off in the mist and then they were out of sight...
