Loki's POV:

(Two Weeks Later)

The double doors opened with a mechanical clunk and a groan as a line of soldiers marched through with half a dozen new prisoners following closely behind; all linked together with chains. I sighed, hands comfortably resting behind my back as I looked out into the prison. "Odin continues to bring me new friends. How thoughtful." As I let the last words leave my lips, I caught the attention of Y/N's drifting eyes. Offering her a small smile as she gave a cheeky smirk back, before going back and watching the new additions adjust to our "home".

"The books I sent, do they not interest you?" My mothers words dragging me away from Y/N reluctantly. She stood a few paces away, watching over me as I turned from the barrier towards her; meeting in the middle. As I stepped once more closer to her I scoffed at her question. I had already read all the books she sent, some of which to Y/N when she ends up jolting awake in the middle of the night from her nightmares.

"Is that how I am to while away eternity? Reading?" I replied to her question as I kicked my feet aimlessly, almost avoiding her scolding gaze. I could feel her disappointment and it felt like the weight of a thousand bricks. It was never my intention to hurt her, I only wanted her to be proud. With which I had failed.

"I've done everything in my power to make you comfortable, Loki." I nodded internally, she had. Compared to Y/N's cell I had a much higher level of comfort and my meals were undeniably higher quality than the slop they continued to throw her way. Yet I couldn't help but think that Frigga, the queen, could have done more for me with all the power she held. The influence she had over... him. Could Thor, the favourite child that he is, not have done something more?

"Have you? Does Odin share your concern? Does Thor? It must be so inconvenient, them asking after me day and night." I spoke, leaning my hands on the chair in front of me. My mother watched me, as her eyebrows raised at my words; how could she still be surprised. I couldn't help the agitation building up inside me, for it was them that put me down here. Acted as if they had not had a hand in the final outcome.

"You know full well it was your actions that brought you here." Her voice was soft but there was a bit of defeat and a tinge of exhaustion hidden behind her words. As if she had said the same line countless times; not just to me. Yet I would not be led to believe this was all my doing.

"My actions? I was merely giving truth to the lie that I had been fed my entire life... That I was born to be a king." I walked away from her, no longer able to confront her directly, I didn't really want to fight with her. This was just a waste of time. For the both of us. This was not how I wanted to spend what little time I had with my mother.

"A king? A true king admits his faults. What of the lives you took on Earth?" She said it so matter of fact that I couldn't help but roll my eyes. I stepped back over to the barrier keeping me in. Looking out to Y/N once more. She sat against the shield, picking at her fingers, as she waited for me to invite her across. We had been having breakfast together for the past couple of weeks now. Her company bringing just that little bit of light to my darkness. I sighed as I kept my eyes forward.

"A mere handful compared to the number that Odin has taken himself." She knew I wasn't wrong, couldn't deny that one truth. Only managing a sigh.

"Your father..."

"He's not my father!" I bellowed, snapping back to look at where she stood. How dare she refer to him as that. The barrier shook slightly as my heart thudded in my chest. I will not stand being related to that being anymore. I glared at her as she watched me. A moment's silence passed between us before she spoke again.

"Then am I not your mother?" It came almost as a whisper, a whisper that stopped my heart in its place, to the point I could not hide my fear, my guilt. Composing myself with a deep breath, forcing my body to relax and straighten back up again.
