Lyria POV

Tick Tock goes the clock.

It's going to be seven in the evening. Pa should be here any minute from now.

Throughout school today, I gathered my thoughts and plans of what I would say later after dinner, reciting it every now and then in my head.

The jingling of keys brought me back to reality and I raced to the door to engulf my parents with a big hug.

You know, gotta keep them in a good mood before making my 'speech' later.

It was a good thing that today was a friday because Pa doesn't work on fridays. He's free until Monday morning.

This means that during this time period, I could persuade him with my amazing plan that will allow me to continue staying in London as well as allow my parents to continue with their work.

Please wish me good luck.

Even though today's dinner had disgusting slimy and ugly-looking mushrooms, I didn't make a single noise of displeasure and maintained a pleasant disposition while I internally screamed profanities in my head at how soggy and squelchy the mushrooms were.

My apologies to mushroom lovers out there.

And then after dinner, I know Skyler would go back to my bedroom to do a stalk-Cien routine on her phone before watching movies. Dayn would probably head back to his room too to do his work and stuff.

Ma would head to the lounge where she would probably make her daily dose of evening tea and watch 'Desperate Housewives'.

I don't even know why she watches that.

Pa would rest at his room to probably watch soccer on his laptop.

But not today since I would be having a fairly important meeting with him in his room.

I took in a deep breath.

This is it. I got to give what I've got.

In my head.

I knocked three times softly on the door before saying, " Knock, knock," and waited for him to say his 'line'.

" Who's there?"

" Lyria Jackson,"

" Lyria Jackson who?"

" Gosh, you don't know the name of your own daughter?" I rolled my eyes and pushed open the door, just in time to see Pa leaning back in his chair laughing.

" Well, what brings you here?" He asked. I opened my mouth to speak but Pa continued.

" I know. You want to watch the most recent soccer game, right? I can read your mind... " Pa said before laughing at what he had say.

Do your parents laugh at their own 'jokes' ?

Well, mine does.

" Nope, you got the wrong answer. I came to talk about moving to New York at the start of November..." I said as worry crept into me.

" You're excited, aren't you? I got the feeling that you wanted to know more about New York so I brought back some brochures. Wait, let me look for it," Pa exclaimed with a smile on his face and got up from his armchair at lightning speed.

He got it wrong again.

He was the one who was excited not me. I totally feel the opposite of excited.

"No, I'm not excited. I don't want to move to New York. I want to continue staying here and focus on my studies," I replied and Pa sat down slowly in his armchair.
