§21§ Cousin

Lyria POV

"Guess who's back? Back again. Skyler's back. Tell a friend..." I sang in Dayn's ear and bounced on my feet as my family and I waited at the airport for Skyler to appear at the arrival gate.

" I wonder where you get the energy to be excited on a Saturday morning..." Dayn said as he yawned. Well, I can't blame him for being tired 'cause it's currently five in the morning and Dayn was rushing with his project last night.

" Marshmallows," I answered Dayn as I fished out a small packet of baby pink marshmallows from my pocket.

Yeah, I know. Eating sweets first thing in the morning is unhealthy and bad for your teeth.

But today's an exception, okay.

Dayn rolled his eyes as he leaned his body against the metal railing near the arrival gate and stared blankly at the people filing out of the gate.

Ma told me yesterday that Skyler would be sharing room with me the whole time she's here and that means that we have a lot of girl-time.

I can't wait 'cause she's noisy and fun and she's like a 'walking- Google'. She came at the right time since the mid-year examinations are coming so she can coach me on history and other subjects.

Well, mostly on history.

I blame Rodney for her boring and screechy lessons that threaten to burst my eardrums.

" I think Skyler brought her whole bedroom here..." Dayn stated as he pointed to a 16-year old girl lugging a big cyan blue luggage behind her.

Ma and Pa immediately rushed to welcome and hug her. I followed suite with Dayn shuffling his feet behind.

" Pretty as always," Skyler said as she greeted me with a hug and a smile on her cute face.

" Same to you," I replied as we pulled away from the hug, grinning from ear to ear.

" Let me give my favourite cousin brother a hug," Skyler said before she bounced to Dayn and gave him a back-breaking one.

I laughed at Dayn's wide eyes as he gasped for air and mouthed the word 'help' to me.

Ah, you can never escape her clutches, Dayn...

"Omygawd! Your bedroom is so big and white," Skyler gawked at the flawlessly clean walls of my bedroom as she pulled her luggage along to the bed I had set up for her this morning.

"White just like-" I was going to finish my sentence when Skyler ended it with ' Marshmallows'.

Ah, this girl reads me like a book.

"Okay, I think I know what you're gonna ask me first thing first. It's studying, isn't it?" Skyler said as she plonked down onto the royal purple mattress of the bed before unpacking her stuff.

"Yeah, you got that right," I replied as she shook her head in amusement.

I admit that Skyler is naturally cleverer than me 'cause she's a genius, I swear. Well, she basically studies a level ahead so she knows what topics I'm studying currently.

"But first, let me sleep for a while. I'm soooo tired," Skyler announced before lying down on the bed and disappearing into beautiful dreams.

The sight of Skyler sleeping makes me wanna sleep too so I dived into her bed and slept next to her...

"MAMA, OPEN THEM FAT EYES! WE GONNA STUDY!" Someone screamed into my ear as I was pushed roughly out of bed.
