43. A Crush On My Husband

ISSA ANUSHK'S POV:

"Hey" a familiar voice greets me while i was busy working on an email sent by my dad in the afternoon.

"Gracie!! Come in. " i give her a pleasant smile while welcoming her in." What's up? "

" Ana told us that you guys have solved everything...." she tells me and i nod back, confirming that it is indeed true.

"Anush...can i ask you something?" i could say from her body language that she was turning to look uncomfortable.

"Go ahead. Ask. There is nothing for me to hide from you " i placed my hand over hers which were on the table. She looked at me for a fraction of seconds and then began.

"Are you really over Ana?"

I inhaled.

"Yes,I'm. Why do you think i stayed away from Aniee so long? To see the truth more clearly. My mom taught me a lot of morals before she left me..."

i could feel my eyes brimming with tears. My mom was the first person whom i fell in love with. She narrated various real-time stories which happened in her life, in India.

"I think it's high time, i let her go Grace. She is married. She may be another person's wife but she will always be my best friend. Just because i have stopped having feelings for her, doesn't mean i wouldn't care for her less. I just want her to be happy and in good health. " Ending my explanation, i had a huge proud smile on my face for being the son of my mom who taught me loads of life's lesson at a very young age.

Grace looked up to see me proudly as well.

" So are you ready to welcome a new girl into your heart?" she asked me with hope.

"I don't know Grace. I would. But the thing is, i haven't met such a girl yet.. "i pouted back sadly.

Grace seemed disappointed at my reply. She stopped looking at me.

" Hey, it's not like i wouldn't meet her ever. Just that, my crush for Aniee had totally blinded me. Who knows, the girl for me is some where around here itself? " i tried to calm her down. She is one my closest friends and of course there is a point for her to be worried about me. Calming her down made me wonder about the last line which i said to her.Will the love of my life, be working here or somewhere in one of the hotels that I own?

Grace seemed expressionless. I guess she looked like she was taking her own sweet time to digest my words. Once she understood my words, she smiled nervously.

"Um... So planning to meet her...?" she kind off looked hesitant about asking me.

"Her... Who? "

" She... Violet? " her eyes looked up from her eyelashes, guiltily.

" No!! " i backed off hearing Violet's name.

" Um... Why? " she asked me.

" Violet is a wonderful person but she is not my type at all,Gracie. I went out with her only cause of our parents."

"Hmm... " she seemed thinking about something.

"So Grace, are you still seeing that guy? "

She looked clueless.

" That guy with whom you came along to Larke? What's his name again? " i placed my first finger on my chin trying to recollect his name.

" Jack... " i hear her soft voice.

" Yeah Jack!! So are you guys still seeing each other? "

"Um.. No Anush. It didn't work out."

"Oh, I'm sorry Graciee... " i felt bad. Probably it was cause of the double dates. Should have left the two alone instead of accepting to the plan. Had they come alone, may be it would have worked out for them.

" No Anush you don't have to be sorry..." she gave me a tight smile. I could see her and tell that she was sad about something.

"So... Gracie are you free in the evening? " i asked her hoping to cheer her up. And to my surprise, she looked more than glad for me to ask her that question.

" Yes I'm!"

"Well then, we can hangout in the evening? "

"Sure.."  she smiled which i always seemed to admire.

DRAKE'S POV :

" Bro, do you want me to accompany you. I'll call Aura as well, if you want.... " Jack asked me while heading back to the parking lot.

The entire day seemed dreadful to me. I was in deep thought but I've no clue on what i was thinking so much about.

" No, no. I'm good, Jack. I'll handle it myself."

"Fine. " Jack knows that I'm never hesitant in asking him for his help. When i turn down his offer of help, he is well aware that it honestly means i don't need any.

" So what have you planned to tell her? " he asks in his calm voice as possible.

His question made me realise that i haven't prepared on what to talk to her at all.

I turned to give him a blank look with a tight lip smile.
He smiled back and patted my shoulders.

" i haven't really prepared any kind of speech for her. But the base-line is 'I don't want her anymore in my life.'  "
Jack nodded back in appreciation. " Yeah, man probably that's what I'm going to let her know. " i conclude with pride for choosing such a choice of decision.

" Well then Drake, i hope everything goes as smoothly as it should. " he holds out his hand to which i handshake and pull ourselves to do bro-hug.

              ' Ask him to meet me tomorrow evening. He knows where to come. '

I could literally hear Anabelle telling that to me, herself. The words kept playing in her voice while driving to the required destination.

After 45 minutes of driving, i reach the place.

The old bridge.

That's the place which has witnessed every moment i had with Anabelle...

I slowly make steady steps down the secret pathway. As i walk down on the green patched stones, i had my heart beating against my rib cage.
I was going to meet Anabelle for the first time after all these years of me thinking that she was dead deep down, inside the earth.

Once i reached the bottom of the bridge, i could sense another person.  Immediately i heard, a pebble being thrown into the stream.

"Hello Drake Cooper... "

That voice!

The same voice, which i yearned to hear again before Ana entered my life echoed now.

I turned to look for her and suddenly i caught sight of a silhouette standing on the same rock on which Anabelle and myself sit to watch the stream flowing, years back.

Okay guys another few more chapters and it will end... Or may be not. I had sketched out the outline but let's see how far it goes as planned ;)
