I looked at him trying to figure out my next move. How will I escape this?
I found him staring at me then out of nowhere he started laughing.
"I know what you must be thinking"
That you are a serial/psycho killer?
No.
He continued laughing.
"The look on your face; it's priceless, you should take a look at yourself"
Now was no time to look at myself.
"Nia I'm not a psychopath" he sighed
"WH-where… What is this place?"
"It’s the place where I decided we should have our first date" he confessed "I swear"
"Okay?"
"What's wrong Nia, get over it. I decided for us to explore abandoned places and take photos. And since you're scared of cockroaches" he sounded bored by that fact "this isn't an actual abandoned place. It's some kind of a museum made for people like us, but as you can see it's abandoned today" he explained
"Alright, I believe you"
. . . . . . .
"You know Julianne if it wasn't for what he'd said to me at the end of that evening. It would have been the best night of my life" I told Julianne.
"What did he tell you Nia?" she asked kindly
"He told me that he didn't want to date me"
She listened carefully
"He had his reasons" I added
"What were his reasons Nia?"
"He told me he was sick" I put one hand on my mouth.
"It's okay Nia if you don't want to tell me"
I did want to tell her. But in the right time.
. . . . . . . .
The time I was supposed to be sleeping, I found it hard to concentrate on that without a conversation coming up to my mind, it was a conversation I just had a few hours before with Nickolas.
For it was one of the nicest conversations I've had in a while until it ended up not so much what I had expected. It seems that everything nice finds a way to creep into the darkness.
I started thinking about everything he said and everything he did.
"What are you doing?" I asked him back then for he was staring at me. "You really don't want to know" he smiled
"I actually do, it seems that you forgot that I say the truth all of the- I mean most of the time" I bragged.
"Well I'm admiring something." he hinted
"Yeah and that thing is...?" I asked. He smirked and said
"I'm admiring what a liquid splashes but none seeps. And when hit changes color. I'm admiring what covers a very complex substance" his smile was from one side to the other, he probably saw it in my face which showed that I obviously understood nothing.
"This isn't fair Nickolas" I whined
"It is for me... You can guess you know." he teased, smiling.
"Well I don't know the answer Nickolas. But I WILL know." I hissed. He laughed. "You know I like it when you say my name" I didn't see that coming so I remained silent.
"Niala! NIA-LA" he said my name in a sing-song like tone
"Are you okay?" I asked since that was weird. He smiled.
"Yes it's just that your name ms Niala reminds me of the name of a character in one of my favorite movies." he admitted
"And which movie would that be?"
"It's an epic movie Niala." he smirked
"Give me a name dude." I told him
"Lion King's Nala" he said.
"I love that movie" I said, excited. "Yeah!'Look at the stars, the great kings of the past look down on us from those stars'" he quoted from the movie while pointing at the stars. The maze was too quite now. "Do you believe that?" I lay down on my back "Yes, but not 'kings of our past' not really" he lay down next to me "Then what do you believe Nickolas?" I asked while staring at the stars.
The beautiful stars I must add.
He turned his head to look towards me "I believe in dreams."
As simple as that, I thought. I looked back at his deep thoughtful eyes. His sad eyes were somehow full of hope and they were unusually warm.
Looking into his eyes right now, Right at this moment; it was perfect.
Until his nose started bleeding.
"Nickolas..." I sat straight up as quick as possible.
"Your nose," I panicked.
I've never seen a human move as fast as he did, as he shot straight up and headed back to the building. "Nickolas," I kept calling him but he ignored me.
It kills me that I was never able to answer his riddles. Probably never will. I was walking towards the bathroom, when I stumbled and hit the ground, my hand hurt. Damn it, this will leave a bruise. I headed to the bathroom to wash it. As soon as the water touched my hand it felt so much better. That's when it hit me. The answer to the riddle 'What liquid splash but never seeps through, when hit it changes colors' he had said. What hit me even harder that "He was admiring my complexion." I said out loud as I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
It made me smile, the brightest smile I could ever wear, and the thought of it made my skin tingle.
