He pointed at the thin air,

"You see that person standing over there" he asked me

"No, not really" I answered

"Well of course you won't, but let me introduce you to him" he beckoned me to move forward.

I stopped because I was getting nervous, "that's pain Niala and he watches my back" he continued.

"Oh..." I didn't really understand what he was talking about. He gave me a brittle smile.

"Nia, I need to tell you something" he paused, "I shouldn't have asked you out. I'm sorry, but I shouldn't"

I was staring at him with surprise in my eyes

"Why?" Was all I could say.

"It's... I can't explain it, not really" his voice was gravelly.

"Dylan" I said in a low voice, "I don't know what's wrong but maybe I can help you...i mean it's too late Dylan"

"Too late for what?" He asked.

"Too late for you to try and get me out of your life. Whatever it is that's causing you trouble I'm your friend and maybe I can offer my help, or even maybe I'll do what I do best since you first saw me; listen to what you have to say" I tried to help him with my words, obviously my words never helped.

. . . .

"I don't know Julianne if I should continue" I was staring at the golden clock in my hand.

"Why do you refuse Nia? What is it that you will lose if you told me what's wrong with him?" She asked.

I was telling her about that night he took me to a date at the haunted house; we took so many photos, added our names to the notorious 'hall of ghosts' Wall and ate a lot. But since humanity has to ruin everything good, he had to tell me that he doesn't want us to date.

What kind of person does that after taking someone on a date? In fact what kind of person says that on a first date?

"I don't know if I could trust you" I confessed. "Do you trust Nickolas?" Her eyes demanded an answer.

"Yes. I trust Nickolas, he's my friend now" my only friend I might add, not that it's my fault I'm left with no one.

However let's say this was one of the disadvantages of being submitted into a mental hospital.

I was always sociable, but I guess it's not sociable that makes us anything else other than lonely.

I guess even sociable people are lonely. HERE'S ANOTHER LIE: We aren't not lonely, we are lonely.

"Did you enjoy the movie/date?" She gave me the feeling as if I were in an interrogation.

"It wasn't a date. It was everything but a date" I declared to her the truth.

If she doesn't believe me, she should check the video cameras as if she hasn't already. After all it is her job to try and fix me, but I don't need fixing I'm not broken; I wanted to yell at her.

She smiled a broad, wide smile I must add

"Okay, as you like. Christmas is near, you excited?" She looked excited herself

But I didn't answer that question; I was definitely not excited by all means.

"So you don't want to continue?" She asked. "I'll continue..."

. . . . .

He then left me and headed home, but I wasn't going to give up easily I'm no quitter.

I followed him to his apartment and knocked on the door.

While waiting I noticed that the building was semi-hunted no one lived there except him and maybe three others. That was suspicious. He opened the door and I pushed him to get inside. Once I was in I closed the door and confronted him, "Look Dylan I'm no quitter, and now we're friends. If you're going through something, I'm going to help you whether you like it or not" he laughed, he laughed so hard that it made me blush.

I even remember thinking about opening the door and throwing myself off the stairs but I didn't move.

"Why are you laughing?" I said angrily. "People are so naïve" he admitted "if you think you can help me, you better think twice" his handsome rugged features were dark, very dark.

"Care to explain" I said quietly realizing that his dilemma is much worse than I ever expected.

"Niala, everyone has demons inside.

Everyone have monsters and lands full of shadows, to be more specific; we all have evil spirits surrounding us and by all means we shall never get rid of them, we don't even try to, the more you try the more painful it gets" he looked thoughtful

"Do you know what's even more painful?" He didn't give me a chance to answer

"Confronting yourself with the problem you're facing" he said slowly and miserably enough for me to let those words sink in.

"And by problem I don't mean a life in general I don't even mean your personal problems. I mean your mind problems Niala" he was standing too close now. He pointed at his forehead and tapped it twice with his index and middle fingers. "It's all in here Nia. All our problems"

I knew that tone of his very well; it was the tone I used with Lana whenever we were talking of a seriously profound subject.

"Dylan please just tell me what's with you?" I was too worried. "Are you sick? Or you're facing some problems clearing your mind?" I just didn't get it.

He smiled a sad smile, "Thanks for helping Niala"

I bet he wanted to add 'as if your words would make any difference'

That's what I would say if I was facing myself back then.

Let's just admit it I was a bit dumb, maybe still am who knows?

I then asked him to make me some tea; we sat down talked and learned new things about each other.

At least he didn't break up with me, I mean end his relationship with me you know as friends.

It was almost midnight when I was about to leave then I asked him

"Are we still on... For you know your sister's wedding?" I asked.

"Do you want to come?"

"Ye-yeah... If you desire me there. I mean if the offer is still on... Right?" I was blubbering.

"It's definitely still on" he winked and I left.

. . . . .

"So eventually it ended up good?" Julianne asked me. "Yes, kind of" I confessed. "So why were you nervous about telling me? And why is it that you told me that it ended up badly?" Her voice was sharp. "I-am... I..."

"Are you lying Nia?" She glared at me.

"What? No, why would I lie?"

"Okay let me rephrase that, are you hiding something Niala?" She glared, it almost pierced my skin.

I stared at the clock "Well what happened was that he started bleeding from his nose after he answered my question, then he got really angry and started throwing things at me and kicked me out" I told her all of this in one short breath.

Obviously she wasn't shocked I hid something but she was shocked of his attitude.
