When we got to Strike’s house, Michael and Jesy were already there.
“Do you want to approach them together or…?” Luke asked me.
“I think I can handle it,” I answered. I stole a quick kiss on the lips from Luke before I opened the car door. I started towards Michael and Jesy. Jesy just looked at me, her eyes wide.
“I didn’t think you would come,” she said.
“Yea, well, thanks for inviting me,” I said sarcastically walking right past her. I found Luke and intertwined our fingers.
“What the hell was that about?” Jesy asked me.
“What?”
“I really don’t need your sarcasm right now, okay?”
“Let’s just not talk about this right now then. Okay?”
She gave me a nasty look.
“Come on, Michael,” she said, grabbing Michael’s hand and pulling him the opposite direction.
“Are you okay?” Luke asked me.
“Yea,” I answered. “I just want her to know how much she hurt me.”
“Wow. You play this game harsh. Remind me to never make you mad.”
“Oh don’t worry. You won’t forget.” I laughed.
I looked around to see that almost everybody had a beer in their hands.
“I’m going to take a guess here and say you don’t drink and don’t want to,” Luke said to me.
“Your guess is correct,” I replied.
He chuckled. “It’s okay. I don’t really drink that much.” I looked at him. “What?”
“I just thought you were one of those people that get drunk every other weekend,” I said.
“Nope. I only drink like one or two beers.”
“Interesting…”
“It’s partly because I’m the designated driver home,” Luke added.
“Oh, then that explains it.” I smiled.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” The smile on mine and his faces grew.
“Nothing.” He pulled me into a tight hug and didn’t let go.
“Wow. I never thought Sara would end up with Luke,” said Strike as he walked up to us. Don’t ask me why he’s called Strike because even I don’t know.
“Well it happened,” I said, laughing. Luke still didn’t let go. He just rested his chin on my head. It’s because he’s so tall.
“How do your parents feel about it?” Strike asked. My smile faded. Luke let me out of the hug but grabbed my hand. The smile faded off of his face too. “Oh so they don’t know?”
“Yea, they don’t know,” I answered, looking away.
“So then I bet they also don’t know you’re at this party, right?” Strike asked raising his eyebrows. I nodded. “Welcome to the delinquent club!” He laughed and held out his hand. I laughed too and shook his hand. “So are we going to see you more often at these things?”
“I hope so,” Luke said, smiling at me.
“I’ll try,” I said, smiling back at him.
Strike turned and left. Calum and Ashton came up to us with a beer in their hands.
