I woke up in Luke’s bed. He was sitting on the ground, leaning his back on the bed. He was fast asleep. I looked at him and realized he had blood on his face and a black eye. I shook him lightly. He woke up.

“What happened to you?” I asked.

“Pete came after me when I tried to stand up for you after Maggy kicked you,” he answered.

“But you’re okay, right?”

“Of course.”

“So what else happened?”

Luke got up and sat on the bed next to me.

“So after you passed out, I stood up and yelled at her. Pete came over, pushed her out of the way, and punched me repeatedly in the face. Strike and Bret struggled to pull him off, but eventually did. I had also gotten in a few punches, though. Anyways, then Ashton and Calum made a little barrier in front of you and I. Michael and Jesy walked over to Maggy, Pete and Will and started yelling at them. That’s when the big brawl began. It seemed like everybody was punching everybody. Calum and Ashton helped me get you to my car. We tried to find Michael and Jesy to get them to come with us, but we couldn’t. Somebody ended up calling the cops, but we were down the street when they came. We pulled over to the side of the road and watched as the cops ran inside the house. They came out with five people handcuffed.” He took a long pause.

“Who were the five people?” I asked.

“Well, Maggy, Will, and Pete were three of them…..” He trailed off.

“Luke?”

He looked straight into my eyes with no expression on his face. “Michael and Jesy were the other two.”

I lost it. I burst into tears. Luke pulled me in for a tight hug. I buried my face in his hands while he rubbed circles into my back.

“And I think your mom knows you snuck out by now,” Luke added.

“Why do you say that?” I asked.

“They kind of rushed out of the house this morning and I think I heard them say your name.”

“Oh so now you’re spying on my parents?” I raised my eye brows.

“Well, yea, a little.” He had a half smile.

I rested my head on his shoulder and intertwined my fingers in his. I started playing with his hand a little bit. A few minutes later, we heard the phone ring. Luke’s mom picked it up and started talking. Then we heard her come up the stairs.

“They want you to go down to the police station so they can talk to you about what happened last night,” she said at the door. “Sara, I told them you were here so they shouldn’t bother calling your parents. I told them you would get there as soon as you could.”

She left the room. The two of us sat there for a couple minutes in silence.

“I guess we better go,” Luke said, getting up. He walked over to his closet and pulled out two shirts. He threw one at me. “If you want to change shirts.”

I turned the other way and changed my shirt. I looked at my phone and saw text messages and missed calls from my parents. I decided to ignore them.

“Ready?” Luke asked from the door. I nodded and walked over to him. He led me out to his car and we drove to the police station.
