Winter came quickly. That meant cold days and snow. I hate snow.
I put on my jacket, a hat, gloves and a scarf before walking outside. I hopped in Luke's car and we drove to the cemetery. At first I would go pretty frequently, like once a week. Now I've made it once every two weeks.
We got out and walked over to her grave. I laid a single rose on top and said a prayer. Sometimes, when I was alone, I would talk to her. Catch her up on all the things she's missing.
The rest of the school year went by pretty quickly. I got accepted to the college my mom always wanted me to go to. Luke got accepted there too.
Graduation. The day we have been anticipating for the entire year. We all filed in in our gowns and what not and took our seats. Every so often during the ceremony I'd look over at Luke who was a few rows away. When we made eye contact, we smiled at each other. We received our diplomas and had a fun little party at Luke's house.
Luke and I snuck out of his house together and went to mine. My dad left for a business trip so the house was empty. I unlocked the door and dragged Luke in behind me.
"You're sure your dad isn't going to barge in on us?" Luke asked.
"He's on a business trip. We have the whole house to ourselves."
He looked a little uneasy about it. I carefully pushed him against the nearest wall and kisses his lips. He kisses me back and things got pretty heated. He carried me up to my bedroom where everything went down from there.
Summer went by quickly. Soon Luke and I were looking for stuff for our dorms. But then our parents said they had a surprise for us. They sat us at my dining room table.
"So you're probably wondering what our surprise is," my dad said.
"Yea just a little," I replied.
"Well, since you are both going to the same college we figured why have you guys stay in separate dorms when you both could stay in the same apartment," Liz added.
"Wait what? We are staying in an apartment? Together?" Luke asked. My dad and his mom both nodded.
Luke jumped up from the table and cheered. I laughed at him. He picked me up and spun me around. Then he placed a soft, sweet kiss on my lips. I smiled through it.
Time to leave for college came quickly. We packed all our bags and everything we would need into Luke's car. We said goodbye to our parents in a somewhat emotional goodbye, hopped in the car and drove off.
The campus was about an hour or two from where we live. We talked and laughed and occasionally kissed the entire ride. We pulled up to our apartment and unpacked out bags. Then we went for orientation.
"I can't believe we are going to be college students," I said. Luke intertwined his fingers with mine.
"I can't either."
"It's insane."
"Totally insane."
We joined the group of incoming college students and toured the campus.
Hopefully this will be a good year.
