Innocence Lost

Six months ago, Essex Corporation:
The owner of Essex Corporation was none other Nathaniel Essex, aka Mister Sinister. Since the Fall of Beacon, Mister Sinister has decided to return to his plans to create the perfect hunter. His agents had recovered Yang's severed arm and the Wolverine's blood samples. Mister Sinister looked out to see the destruction happening. One of his agents came inside his office and reported, "We have received the items you requested, sir." Mister Sinister replied, "Then begin Project Transigen. And have Dr. Zander Rice and Dr. Sarah Kinney work on the project."

A month later, there were 22 failed attempts to combine Yang and Logan's DNA to create a male clone. Then Sarah suggested of making a female clone instead. At first Zander debated it, but Mister Sinister forced him to go along with it. "If the perfect hunter needs to be female, so be it," seethed Mister Sinister. "I won't let your personal petty vendetta interfere with this project. Understood?" Zander gulped, nodding. Mister Sinister turned to leave while saying, "As you were." Zander grumbled as he and Sarah began to create the female clone. The two DNA successfully combined together into the female clone. The clone baby had some dark black hair showing on her head and had lilac colored eyes. She waked up as Sarah cooed as she held her and Zander looked at this with disapproval. Meanwhile, Mister Sinister and one of his agents were watching this. Mister Sinister had already decided to call the clone X-23, but Sarah was more along the lines with Laura.

Present day, Project Transigen Facility, Essex Corporation:

The facility had already put Laura into a process of accelerated growth. She now looked like an eight year old Yang Xiao Long with lilac eyes and black shoulder length hair. Laura remembered after the facility accelerated her growth, they forced her claws out and removed her middle claws and surgically put them into her feet. Then eventually they put her through the same adamantium bonding process Logan went through once. But only on her claws. The adamantium would interfere with her growth if they grafted the indestructible metal into her skeleton. The facility, including Zander kept referring to her as 'X-23', 'Pet', and 'Animal'. The only ones who didn't refer to her as that were Sarah and Laura's sensei. Even though they were the only good things here, this place was a prison for Laura. She wanted to get out to live a normal life but Laura knew she wasn't a normal person. She was a clone of a person named Yang Xiao Long and another named Wolverine. Guess that's why Rice calls me an 'animal', thought Laura bitterly.

"You can't be serious!" protested Sarah. "Laura is only a little girl!" Zander retorted nonchalantly, "X-23 was designed for bloodshed and warfare. In case you have forgotten, Dr. Kinney." Sarah spat, "Go to hell, Zander!" A scientist came over to them and reported, "The chemical compound is ready." Then a voice said behind them, "Good. We have important quests awaiting our progress." They turned to see Mister Sinister. Sarah stared at him with horror. "The perfect hunter X-23 will attack anything or anyone splashed with the chemical," added the scientist. Mister Sinister smiled, "Then our hard work will pay off." Sarah asked, "What are you going to do with Laura?" Mister Sinister answered, "We will sell X-23 to Salem and her faction, and X-23 will be deployed to track down freedom fighters and annihilate them." Sarah stared at him with even more horror. Mister Sinister asked, "Is that going to be a problem, Doctor Kinney?" Sarah didn't respond as she walked out of the room. Mister Sinister contemplated on that as he saw the doors slam.

Laura cut herself on the arm for the fifteenth time as she watched the cut heal quickly. She turned to the camera on the wall and glared at it. Then the door suddenly opened and alarm went off. She walked out with curiosity and suddenly guards came out with guns raised. Laura looked at them as she snarled and heard a SNIKT sound. She looked to see two claws coming out of each hand. One guard tried to grab her hair, but Laura sliced off his hand. The guard yelled out in pain as Laura stabbed him. Her lilac eyes turned red as she growled, "No. One. Touches. The. Hair!" Laura screamed as she lunged at the guards in a blind rage and killed them. She bolted out as she continued her rampage.

Dr. Sarah Kinney was the one who let Laura out of her cell. She began to run out of Essex Corporation but her leg got shot by a man with a cybernetic arm. It was Donald Pierce. He then threw a glass vial of the chemical compound at her. "Let's see if this thing works," snickered Pierce.

Laura managed to get out of the building but her nostrils were suddenly agitated by something. Her eyes turned redder as she turned and lunged at the source of the smell and stabbed it. Then Laura's eyes went back to lilac as realization hit her. She killed Sarah! "Noooo," sobbed Laura. "What have I done?" Sarah looked at her and smiled, "L-Laura..." Laura continued to cry, "That's not my name. It's X-23 and always will be. I'm not a person. I really am an animal." Sarah slowly reached up to hold Laura's hand and reassured, "Your name... is not... X-23. Your name... is Laura...." Then Sarah dies from her wounds. Laura cried even harder, "Please. Don't leave me." Laura kept crying until she heard a group of guards heading toward her. She looked at Sarah one last time and ran off before the guards could catch her.

Laura was miles away from the Essex Corporation as she wandered around. "Hey, kid," sneered a voice behind her. "Want a job?" Laura turned around to see a tall man with long white hair with black stripes and a colorful business suit. Laura snarled, "Leave if you know what is best for you." The man chuckled, "Ooo, a fighter. My clients would pay a lot for a young beauty who plays rough." Laura glared at him as the man walked toward her and knelt down to pet her hair. Then Laura screamed as she sliced off his hand. The man also screamed but in pain and horror. He clutched his bloodied arm as Laura growled, "No. One. Touches. The. Hair." Laura walked toward him as she unsheathed her claws.
