What Life Looks Like

Logan and Yang brought in Laura to the house. "We got a newcomer!" called Logan. Jennifer asked, "Do you have a hobby of bringing in newcomers?" Logan answered, "This one's special." Taiyang came as he asked, "What do you mean?" He stopped short when he saw Laura and asked, "How come she looks like my daughter with black hair?" Logan started, "Before you think it, we just met her today. Her name is Laura." Laura looked at Taiyang with shyness. Laura turned to see Yang as she gently stroked her hair. "Explanation, now," ordered Taiyang lightly. Laura explained, "I... I am a clone of... Mom.. with my dad's abilities created by the Facility at the Essex Corporation." Logan added, "Laura thinks Yang and me are her parents." Oobleck came in to sped around the three of them while occasionally looking at Laura. Finally he shrugged, "I don't see why not. She has her mother's looks and her father's fighting spirit." Laura snikted her claws as she snarled at Oobleck. Logan grasped her shoulder and said, "He's a friend. He's not gonna hurt you." Doreen saw Laura and immediately got excited. She rushed over to her and asked, "What's your name? My name is Doreen! Would you like to be my friend?" Laura turned to Logan, who only smiled and nodded. Laura turned to Doreen and answered, "My name is Laura. Sure, I would like to be your friend." Doreen grabbed Jennifer's scroll and took a selfie with Laura, who smiled. "C'mon! We gotta find you clothes!" exclaimed Doreen. The two little girls ran to find some of Yang's old clothes. Jennifer smiled and then turned to Logan and Yang as she said with a serious tone, "I heard about the Essex Corporation. Some rumors say that the owner Nathaniel Essex uses DNA of huntsmen and huntresses to create clones of them in order to make armies and weapons." Oobleck said, "That sounds sinister." Jennifer added, "Hence his name, Mister Sinister." Taiyang asked, "Why did you bring Laura here?" Logan answered, "She went through a lot of pain, plus she swam an entire ocean just to get here to Patch." Yang asked, "What were we supposed to do?" Taiyang assured, "If anything, I would have done the same thing." Laura came out with new clothes on. She was wearing an orange shirt with a black fiery heart on it, denim jacket, brown pants, and orange shoes. Doreen wrapped her arm around Laura's shoulders as Logan smiled. A half-Faunus tomboy and a squirrel Faunus girl. Why not? thought Logan.

Later tonight, Doreen introduced Laura to Bruce Jr. "This is my little bro, Bruce Jr.," said Doreen. "Brucie, this is Laura." Bruce Jr. smiled at her as Laura asked confusingly, "He doesn't look like you, so how is he your brother?" Logan came in and replied, "You don't have to be related to be in a family." Port called, "Everyone, dinner is ready!" Everyone got to the table and sat down. Logan was in between Yang and Laura. He saw Jennifer sitting down next to Taiyang and Bruce Jr. in a high chair. As the food was put on the table, everyone prayed. Taiyang said, "Thank you, Oum. For this meal and our new friends and family. Amen." Oobleck turned to Logan and said, "Do you see this, Logan? This is what life looks like. People who love each other. In a home. If I were you, I would take a moment to feel it." Logan looked at Yang, Laura, Doreen, Jennifer, Bruce Jr., Taiyang, Port, and Oobleck as he smiled. He looked at Laura, who was smiling the brightest she has ever in a long time. Yang leaned toward Logan and kissed his cheek.

After dinner, Logan was outside gazing at the night sky. Yang walked over to him and asked, "Something on your mind?" Logan replied, "Just thinking about tonight. Wish we could live like this for the rest of our lives. But Cinder Fall's still out there, and so is Sabretooth." Yang hugged him and said, "Hey, I'm planning on getting back to the fight. You wanna come? I feel really bad for leaving Ruby the way I did six months ago. I wanna show the bad guys that even if I get hurt, I always come back up." Logan smirked, "Same here. They killed me six months ago and I got better. I'm ready for a rematch." Laura showed up and said, "And I'm coming with you." Logan scrunched his eyebrows as he asked, "Why do you want to get dragged into this?" Laura answered, "I can handle myself in a fight. I want to be as good as you. I want to be like you." Logan smiled as Yang said, "We're in this together. You get some rest and tomorrow morning we three get outta here." Laura hugged both of them as she let go and ran back to Doreen. Logan remarked, "One day on her own, one meal, and hardly any sleep. She's eight and I'm almost fucking eighteen." Yang smiled as she kissed Logan fully on the lips. "I sometimes like it when you talk like that," chuckled Yang. "But if we're gonna raise a family of our own, you're gonna have to refrain from swearing. You promise?" Logan replied, "For you darlin', anything." They both kissed deeply as they separated and went back inside.
