The Night The Heroes Fell Part 5

Wolverine entered inside of Beacon Academy as he faced Sabretooth. Sabretooth looked at Wolverine with a blank expression as he said, "Look at where ended up together, huh Jimmy?" asked Sabretooth. "Two brothers of the same mother. Sometimes I often wish things turned out different." Wolverine spat, "Yeah, like what?" Sabretooth answered, "That fateful night where we lost them. Mom and Dad." Wolverine exhaled as he nonetheless agreed, "Yeah. Sometimes I wish things turned out different, too. Everyone has parents. Us? Just orphans." Sabretooth nodded, "Yeah. Also brothers."

Young James Howlett was tucked into bed by his mother Elizabeth Howlett. "Can you tell me a bedtime story, Mom?" asked James. Elizabeth smiled as she sat down next to him as she told him a story.

You know why the moon is so lonely? 'Cause she used to have a lover. His name was Kuekuatsheu. They lived in the Spirit World together. And every night they'd wander the skies together. But one of the other spirits was jealous. The Trickster wanted the Moon for himself. So he told Kuekuatsheu that the Moon asked for flowers. He told him to come to our world and pick her some wild roses. Kuekuatsheu didn't know that once you leave the Spirit World, you can never go back. Every night the Moon searches for him, and every night he sees her in the sky and howls her name, but he can never touch her again.

"What does... Kukucachu mean?" asked James innocently. Elizabeth laughed as she corrected him, "Kuekuatsheu. Means the 'Wolverine.'" Elizabeth stroked her hand on James' cheek and smiled, "Goodnight my beautiful little boy."

Sabretooth asked, "You thinking about that Kuekuatsheu story Mom always told you about?" Wolverine stared daggers at him as Sabretooth added, "I always heard it every time she told it to you." Wolverine asked, "That so?" Sabretooth nodded as the two did nothing at first. Then Wolverine got into his battling pose as he declared, "That ain't stop me from ending you, Sabretooth." Sabretooth smirked, "Guess not." He got into his own battle pose as the two waited for one of them to make a move.
