"STOP LAUGHING AT ME!" Said Griffin, from the bottom of a pit.
"I'm—I'm sorry." She chuckled, holding a hand over her mouth. "It's just funny how one minute you were up here, and then the next minute you were down there."
"Yeah," He said with a role of his eyes. "Very funny."
"You were...you were up here singing," she said in between laughs. "I look away for one minute, and then you're...then you're just gone. You're in a...you're in a hole!"
"Yeah," he replied. "The whole thing is hilarious. I'm trapped in a pit, and you're up there laughing. Could you maybe...help me back up?"
"Oh, get that stick out off your ass." She smiled, holding out her hand to her brother. "Here, grab my hand and I'll pull you up."
Griffin grabbed her hand, and then she pulled him up out of the pit in the ground.
"There you go," she giggled. "You're out."
"Yeah, after a century of you laughing at me." He said, brushing the mud and dirt of off him. "It's not my fault there was a pit there. If I'd have seen it I would have avoided it."
"And that's what makes it so funny."
Griffin rolled his eyes, somewhat playfully, and then picked up his fallen bag and threw it back over his shoulder before they carried on walking through the woods.
"So where are we heading now?" He asked.
"Still South," she replied. "I remember seeing rivers and shops this way on the map. It's a long shot—but maybe they've headed there. And if not...it's not like we have anything to lose anyway."
"With any luck, we'll come across some food." He added, shoving an overhanging branch out of his way. "It's been a couple of days since we've eaten now, I'm starving."
"You and me both." She sighed. "We'll find something. We have to."
Griffin paused for a moment. "Do you remember when we used to do this with dad?"
"I remember." She hummed. "I—"
Ophelia was cut off by the sound of a branch snapping. She quickly stopped and held out her arm for Griffin to do the same.
