EVER SINCE SIMON AND HIS men had come to the sanctuary and told everybody that Negan had 'died', the sanctuary had been in a bad way. There was a shortage of food supplies, and nobody knew who to look to to lead them during the war with Alexandria, Hilltop and Kingdom. Simon was a good leader—but he wasn't Negan.

Ophelia was surprised — and worried — when Simon had told everybody that Negan had died. Not because she cared about him, but because Simon was worse that Negan, and if somehow the sanctuary won this war, she wasn't sure what Simon was going to do with her or her child.

"Dwight," Ophelia said, pulling Dwight to the side, as they stood in the middle of the sanctuary. "We have a problem."

"Yeah I know." He nodded.

"You...know?" She asked with a tilt of her head.

"Yeah, but....how could you possibly know?"

"Are we—are we talking about the same thing?"

"What are you talking about?" Dwight asked.

Ophelia looked around before she said, "Eugene is missing. I think he's been taken."

"You've gotta be kidding me." He said, running a hand over his face. "That's all we need."

"What problem were you talking about?" She asked after a moment.

"Uh, I don't know if I should—" he went to say, but she cut him off.

"Tell me." She said. "You know that you can trust me. We're on the same side."

"Alright, Fine." He said, looking around to make sure nobody was watching and speaking quietly. "Negan he's...he's alive."

      "Negan's alive?" She almost gasped.

"Keep your voice down!" Dwight loudly whispered. "He came to see me this morning. Asked why we left him for dead."

     "What did you tell him?"

     "...the truth."

"Are you...are you glad he's back?" Dwight asked after a moment.

Ophelia ran her teeth over her lip in thought. "Simon doesn't care about me, or you, or my child. Negan, in some sort off twisted way, does care. And I know it sounds horrible, but at least if the saviours won this war, I know my kid would be safe, if Negan was in charge. I can't say the same for Simon."

"Do you think Negan will come out on top?" Dwight asked — he'd been so sure that Alexandria would win, that he hadn't really thought about what would happen if they didn't.
