OPHELIA WATCHED as her husband lay beside her. His hair had grown longer since she last gave him a hair cut, she was not sure if she liked it. She could barely see his face anymore.

As he lay by her side, his hair covering his face, Ophelia decided to brush his hair to the side. She found that the further into her pregnancy that she got, the more restless she became. She now found that she had many sleepless nights.

Daryl on the other hand, did not seem to lack sleep. Ophelia knew that he was fast alseep when snoring left his lips. That was when she turned onto her side, and would admire her husband. He looked so peaceful when he lay there asleep, something he did not look during the day.

It made the woman sad to see Daryl the way he would be when awake. His bags were heavy, and his expression was barely happy. She knew that, although he slept well, he did not sleep long. He woke up early, at the same time every day, revenge being the first thing on his mind.

He always made time for his wife, but still she did not see as much of him as she liked. It was as though night time was the only time she could look at her husband, and sometimes she would talk to him. She would say the things he did not have time to hear during the day.

She knew that perhaps, watching him while he slept was creepy to some, but to her it helped her find peace of mind. It was not as though she locked her eyes on his face for the whole night, she would normally look at him for a few minutes before snuggling up against him or turning the other way.

Ophelia released a gentle sigh as she turned away, laying on her back once again. She let the mattress support her ever aching back as she rested a gentle hand over her growing stomach. The woman found that, as the days went by, her stomach not only grew bigger, but her back would sometimes hurt.

But, she would not change any of it for the world.

The woman looked up at the ceiling, pursing her lips as she allowed her mind to wonder. She would often find herself imaging Daryl as a father. Ophelia knew he was not an overly affectionate man, but deep down she knew her husband would give their child all the love he had to give.

She did wonder, however, what sort of father he would be. Would he be strict? Would he be lenient? Would he teach him how to hunt? Or would he restrain him to the Alexandrian walls. Truthfully she did not know. But, she knew that he would protect their son with all his might, and that was why Ophelia has such faith in her husband.

She often also found herself wondering if their child would grow to be close with that of Glenn's and Maggie's. But, she did not dwell on that for long. Ophelia was tough, but still the thought of Glenn was very raw. She had been close with Glenn, she liked him. She was not quite ready yet to think of him without sparing a tear.

It was not until Ophelia felt the mattress beside her shift, that she turned her head to see her husband sitting up. She could not help the heavy sigh she released, knowing that he would soon be gone to go and prepare for the upcoming war. The whole ordeal of revenge had consumed him, and there was no stopping it until Negan had been handled.

Though she too wanted revenge, Ophelia wished Daryl would not let it eat him whole.

Daryl was not a oblivious man. He did not fail to see the sadness deep within his wives eyes as they peered up at him. It was the same look she gave him every morning, yet he could not bring himself to do anything.

The redneck was quick to get up of the bed and change into his clothes, before he looked over at his wife who lay down buried under the duvet still.

He could not help but admire her as the sun beamed through the blinds, the rays illuminating her skin softly as she squinted over at him, a small, but saddened smile painted upon her pretty face.

As was the routine, Daryl placed his hand over his wife's stomach, and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead. He went to leave, but found he could not as Ophelia grasped his shirt.

"Stay a little longer." She had whispered, pulling him closer to her. "I barely see you anymore."

"I won't be long."

"You say that everyday. And you always are."

Daryl released a long breath as he gazed upon his wife. He so wanted to stay, to hold her within his arms a little longer, but he found his desire for revenge had been fuelling him like gasoline. He could not ignore it.

"Jus' get some sleep."

Ophelia ignored her husband, though he was firm in what he said, she was unfazed by his request. She simply began to run her fingertips through his hair, sighing as she did so.

"Your hair is very long. Doesn't it get annoying? God, I can barely see your face, how on earth can you see mine?"

Daryl simply shrugged, his hair being the last thing on his mind as he pushed himself up. Though he placed his hand on the door knob ready to leave, he found he could not turn it as he heard his wife release a very agitated huff.

Lowering his head, he turned around and once again rested his arms on the bed, either side of her as he stood over his wife.

"I'll see if i can finish up early. Bout' time I 'ave a decent hair cut."

Ophelia smiled up at her husband, her nodding her head. He had not been very affectionate lately, thus found this gesture surprising, but satisfying none the less.

"Alright."

The woman nuzzled her nose against the rednecks, bidding him farewell as he left their Alexandrian house. Though she normally helped with the upcoming war, she had spent the last four days on bedrest, not for her sake but for that of the baby she was carrying inside her.

But, it would not be long until she was helping again, once her morning sickness and back pain had eased of, she would be back into action. However until then, she decided to go through some photographs.

A/N

Hello everyone! It's been a while, but season 8 is fast approaching and so is more of this book once it starts, so I just wanted to set the scene a little bit. As you may or may not have noticed, the style of this chapter was in 3rd person and my writing style has changed.

Since the pausing of this book, I have been working on other fan fics and have been reading a lot, as a result I think my style has defiantly developed. So, I was wondering if you guys mind if I continue this book in this style? Unless you really like it being from Ophelia/Daryl's POV, In which case I will continue to do so.

But, after season 8 (or before) I most likely will be re editing As one and this book. Because as I re read them, I've noticed a lot of room for improvement.

Anyway, If you're still reading this, thank you! See you when season 8 starts.
