My civilisation (D.D)

Sixty eight: The day will come when you won't be.

So we were gonna take Maggie to the hilltop so she could get the medical help she needs.

Rick, Carl, Eugene, Abraham, Aaron and Sasha were coming along as well to help us get Maggie to Doctor Carson.

Climbing into the RV I sat myself on the floor opposite Maggie. I held her hand in mine and tried to reassure her that we would get to the hilltop in no time, and that the baby was okay. I preyed to God it was.

And I also preyed to God we didn't bump into any saviours.

Once everyone was in the RV, Abe took the steering wheel and we were soon on route to the hilltop and doctor Carson.

As the RV was moving I was just holding on tightly to Maggies sweaty hand, trying to reassure that there was nothing wrong with her and Glenn's baby.

I was able to see all the trees and the old road signs woosh by in the window and I tried to encourage Maggie to focus on that.

Eventually Rick came over, his hair was slightly sticking to his forehead and his eyes were watering, he sighed and sat himself by Maggie.

He smiled softly at me before he turned to face Maggie who was breathing deeply and heavily as she was sweating.

He took her other hand and began to comfort her.

"Hey hey. We're gonna get there. The doctor at the hilltops gonna make things better."

"How do you know?" She croaked.

"Everything we've done, we've done together. We got here together and we're still here. Things have happened, but it's always worked out for us 'cause it's always been all of us. That's how I know. 'Cause as long as it's all of us, we can do anything."

I smiled at his wise words for they even comforted me, damn I could even feel my eyes begin to water.

I went to wipe away a stray tear but that plan failed when Rick grabbed my other hand and looked at both me and Maggie.

"We're gonna be okay in the end."

As we embraced each others presence for a small while the RV suddenly came to a stop causing both Rick and I to jolt forwards.

Both of us made our way to the drivers seat to see why the fuck Abraham stopped the RV.

"What the bitch?" The ginger said squinting his eyes.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Enemy close. We doing this?"
