//Ophelia's POV//

Shoving my knife into my holster smoothly, I trudged over towards the lifeless bodies and began to scavenge through their duffer bags and grubby pockets to see what I could find.

Call me cold, call me a thief, hell call me a cold blooded murderer but it was either them or us and I did what needed to be done.

Humans were worse than walkers and you had to shoot down any danger. This was the new world and if you didn't keep up you die.

Searching through the bags I could feel Daryl's gaze burn wholes in my temple as he picked up his crossbow which had been thrown to the floor.

"Take a picture. It will last longer." I said kicking the bags away having found not a single fucking thing.

"Wha' was tha'?" He asked a touch of anger in his voice.

"Survival." I sighed scratching the back of my head.

Shaking his head at me he let out a scoff as he slung his crossbow over his back and I snapped.

"What? What would you have done then?"

"Negotiate."

"The man had a gun Daryl. He didn't want to negotiate."

"The woman was crackin'. She would 'ave given in."

"Bullshit."

"Nah. Nah it's not."

"Yes it is."

"She didn' deserve to die like tha'!"

"Why didn't she? She was standing with a man trying to make an enemy of us."

"Yer cold."

"It's survival of the fittest."

"Not the coldest." He growled shaking his head a little.

"Whatever. We're both alive and that's all I care about."

"Wha' if tha' woman had a family? Someone waitin' for her."

"Then they're gonna have a long wait." I sighed leaning up against a tree.

The bark was digging into my back but I ignored it as Daryl spoke.

"Don' yer even feel a tiny bit guilty?"

"Nope. I'd do it again and again and again to protect you, my family, my home and I'd do a lot worse if necessary."

"I get tha', I do but-"

"But what Daryl? She was innocent? So you've said."

"Maybe she was."

"No ones innocent. Not anymore. This world took that away. We're all sinners, hell even the priest ain't no saint."

"More innocent than most then."
