MAKENNA
"Pregnant? What do you mean you think you're pregnant?" he asked.
"Well, when two people participate in sexual intercourse," I began.
"Mak c'mon, this is serious," he said cutting me off.
"I'm over a month late Kade. I'm never late," I said.
"What makes you bring this up now? Why not earlier?"
"I don't know. All of this just made me think about how different things will be," she said shrugging.
"Have you taken a test?" he asked.
I shook my head. "I've been too scared to," I said honestly.
He pulled me closer to him, hugging me tightly.
"We'll do it together," he said, kissing my forehead.

Kade and I had decided to skip the parties and go home. We had stopped at a drug store on the way home to pick up a test. I stayed in the car, while Kade went inside. The entire time, my heart was beating out of my chest. What would I do if I was pregnant?
Kade got back in the car and looked at me. "You okay?" he asked.
"Kade what are we gonna do if I'm pregnant?" I asked.
He sighed. "I don't know Mak. Whatever you want to do, I'll support you. We're in this together, no matter what," he said.
With that, my heart swelled. He always knew what to say at the perfect times.
Once we got to my house, we immediately went to my room. I quickly locked myself in my bathroom and took the test, leaving it there. The next two minutes were the longest two minutes of my life.
"Time's up," he said.
"You go look, I can't," I said.
He nodded, going into the bathroom and coming out. He grabbed me and pulled me against him, holding me tightly.
"It's negative," he said.
I let out a huge breath of relief.
"Oh thank God," I whispered. I squeezed him in my arms, not wanting to let him go.
"Even if it were positive, you know I would've been right by your side," he spoke quietly.
I love you. I craved to say. I truly did. I nodded silently against his chest, finding comfort in him.
"You had no idea how scared I was to tell you," I replied.
"I have an idea, that was the longest two minutes of my fucking life and every second was terrifying."
"I'm sorry if I've been distant lately, you know why now," I said.
He grabbed my chin, pulling me to face him. His inched closer, pressing his lips gently against mine. It was a grand kiss, like in the movies, when the two characters were finally together and nothing was gonna tear them apart.
"I love you," he spoke, his forehead pressed against mine.
I kissed him in reply, hoping to silently tell him, the guilt still eating away at me. He had another fight in just four days and the thought of it made my stomach churn. I didn't want to put him through all this, for something that I didn't even want anymore.
~*~
Kade and I had spent a ton of time in the gym preparing for this fight. My heart felt low in my chest, my stomach felt lower. I didn't want Kade anywhere near these people, but this was my fault and I'd have to deal with that burden.
We were doing some sparing in the ten minutes before his fight, when he caught on I wasn't all there.
"You okay Mak, what's the matter?" he question.
"Nothings the matter," I replied quickly.
He stared at me through disbelieving eyes. He was so clearly concerned when he didn't have to be.
"It's nothing really," I said. "C'mon, it's time for your fight."
He followed me closely, his hand on my lower back. He kissed the back of my ear before walking away and into the ring. He looked back at me with reluctance in his eyes.
"Alright, listen up assholes," Ray's voice filled the room. "We're getting down to our last few fights, there's only two more after this one. Get in your bets now before it's too late, starts at a grand tonight. Good luck," he said with a smile. "And now for the fight, please welcome, Kaden 'The Golden Boy' Walsh."
The crowd cheered loudly for him, not a single soul seemed to be better against him. His eyes searched through the crowd, finding me.
"And his opponent, Donovan 'Iron Man' Martin," Ray shouted.
Before I knew it, the fight was going. Kaden's form was off, making me concerned. What the hell was he doing? He blocked his opponent's hits, but barely. Then he made the biggest mistake possible, he took his eyes off of his opponent. Within that split second, Donovan was on top of him, throwing punches every which way. The crowd was going crazy, gasping and screaming.
I pushed my way through getting closer to the ring.
"What the fuck are you doing?" I screamed.
Kade was somehow able to flip them, landing on top, punching his opponent multiple times. He didn't stop until the bell rang, leaving Donovan on the ring floor bleeding. Kade sashayed over towards me, hopping out of the ring. He pulled me into his embrace, kissing my forehead.
I pushed him away. "What the fuck was that?"
"I was worried about you," he said calmly.
"Worried about me? For God's sake Kade, I'm fine. What you did was so stupid. You never, ever, take your eyes off of your opponent," I yelled at him.
"I won, why the fuck does it matter?"
"Look at you, you're a bleeding mess, that's why it matters," I said.
"I'm fine," he mocked.
I looked at him disapprovingly. "Just please, don't do that ever again. What happens if next time you can't turn it around? I don't give a shit if you win Kade, I just don't want you getting hurt too badly," I said.
"Alright, I'm sorry. Won't happen again, I promise," he replied.
"Let's go, we gotta get you cleaned up," I said, pulling him behind me.
