Dexter's office building rested in the Gold coast area of Millennium city. his office sat on the 22nd floor facing Lake Michigan. As he peered out, he could see how the summer months were coming to a close. the beaches were practically empty, and there weren't as many sailboats on the water. He had 30 minutes before his next appointment and his bout with Seth Vaal allowed him a few moments of reflection, but even more so about the odd phone call from his ex Mia.
Mia was as beautiful as they would come. She could have easily become a model for Victoria's Secret if she wanted to, but her go-getter attitude had driven her to journalism in the stead. She had long full reddish-brown hair and an almond-shaped face with medium cheekbones. She had medium round brown eye's, and semi-full lips. Her skin was a smooth mocha tone with a few brown freckles about her small round nose. She was African American and Irish descent, and she fully embraced both sides. As Dexter began looking out towards the city, he could see Omnicorp towers which was just ten or so blocks away. He wondered if his good friend Dr. Jones was available for a game of chess later that weekend. His attention was taken away by the buzzing of his iPhone once more, but for some reason he found himself actually responding to it before it did, his Sentinel abilities allowed him certain inner galactic mutated privileges. Deep down he knew who it was, and a small part of him wanted it to be, but he fought the feeling to accept it. Needless to say, he answered it anyway. "Hello, Mia." He said in a very calm voice. "How'd you know it was me?" She asked in a sort of playful way. "Really Mia." He replied. "How have you been, I haven't seen you for a while." Dexter could hear her heart racing as she continued to talk. "I've been good Mia, how about you, how have you been." He returned. "I've been good Dex." "Say Dex do you think we can meet for an early supper at our favorite spot this evening?" "I need to talk to you about something." Dexter was hesitant at first, but he also knew how persistent Mia could be. "Sure, but I have one more patient, then I'll be free for the evening." Dexter could hear the elevator coming up the shaft. 'You don't sound too happy to hear from me Dex." She started out. "Have you been avoiding me since you got back?" Dexter was not about to have this conversation with her over the phone. She could ask him whatever she wanted too later, within reason of course, but right now he needed to get his focus. "Mia, we'll have to discuss this later OK?" "My patient is arriving " "Okay Dex, see you then." She almost sounded disappointed Dexter thought to himself as he turned off his iPhone. What could she have to talk to him about? He thought to himself, but only time would have to tell because his next patient was gently knocking at his office door.
