The truth about Dexter

By the time he reached the front of the building, he saw Mia leaning against one of the large concrete flowerpots, which sat on either side of the building's entrance. She was staring down at her iPhone When she saw Dexter she immediately rose up from her position and turned it off  "Where are you coming from Dex?" She started in. "Mia, can we talk about this some other time?" Dexter was trying his best to blow her off, but he also knew just how persistent Mia could be when she wanted to know something. "Normal people walk down the street Dexter, you emerged from an alley?" "You didn't drive your car, so you weren't driving." I didn't see you pull up in a taxi, so don't even try that." "So, you want to tell me what's "really" going on." She said all this without breaking her gaze off of him. "Okay, but we aren't going to do this out here in front of my building." If you want to talk we have to go upstairs." Dexter said. "I wouldn't have it any other way Dex. She replied.

The lobby of the building was always pretty quiet. Most of the building's tenants had kept to themselves for the most part, including Dexter. But tonight, coming home to relax was becoming a very moot point. The buildings night doorman was sitting in his usual spot, studying for an exam he had in the morning. His name was Fabio, a 20-year-old Hispanic who knew his job very well. As Dexter and Mia passed the desk, Fabio looked up, saw whom Dexter was with, and gave him the thumbs up. Mia had just caught the tail end of the gesture and shook her head."Men".She thought to herself, as they both boarded the elevator to head to Dexter's unit on the 32nd floor.

The ride up was very quiet. Mia had asked a few questions to break up the tension. A kind of calm before the storm of questions she would eventually bombard him with much later. After finally reaching Dexter's unit, Mia sat on the couch while Dexter went to freshen himself up a bit. "Mia make yourself comfortable, I'm going to jump in the shower," Dexter yelled out from the bathroom, but Mia was well on her way to doing just that, she made herself a glass of water from his faucet in the kitchen. Just as she was retrieving a glass from his cabinet, she had remembered the glass sliding over to Dexter's hand at Giorgio's. "Oh hell no!" " No way are you getting off that easy." She thought to herself. She slammed the glass down on the counter, and vigorously made her way to the bathroom where Dexter was preparing to take his shower.

Pushing the door wide open, she found Dexter fully nude. Dexter realizing the intrusion, spun around away from her so she wouldn't see the eerie glowing Quantum badge resting in his chest. "Mia would you please get out of here!" Mia stood in the doorway of the bathroom staring at Dexter's well muscular toned body. This was not the Dexter she once knew. Everything about him was different. Not just in body, but attitude as well. "Dexter please I've seen you nude before." "What was that I just saw?" Dexter did his best to hide the badge, but it was already far too late. With his back towards her, he slowly turned to face her, and by the expression on her face, and the way she fell back against the wall, He could easily tell that she was in a state of utter shock. "What is that thing in your chest!!?" She yelled out as she took off towards the living room to get her purse to leave, but Dexter had caught up to her and stopped her from leaving. "You wanted to know Mia, you wanted to know what's new with me, now you are about to see who I really have become." He walked her back over the couch and sat her down. He stood in the middle of his living room and placed his hand over the badge, and in a quick burst of light blue and purplish cosmic energy, had become the Sentinel of the earth once more. Mia stood up from the couch almost staggering from what had just happened. She couldn't speak. Her words had escaped her for even the slightest response. Finally, under a low monotoned shaky voice, she managed to let go of the only response she could muster. "Oh my God Dex, you're the Sentinel?!"
