Peaches

It was Maya. I couldn't help but smile, even though she looked really really mad.
Maya - You think it's okay to be back home for WEEKS, and not even tell me?!
Riley - Peaches
She doesn't looks mad anymore. When I said peaches she smiled at me and began to cry
Maya - Honey
We hug as if it had been years since we've seen eachother. It did feel like that though. I didn't want to let go, and when I did try she'd pull me back in.
Maya - You!
She stares at Lucas. Lucas's face is absolutely priceless
Maya - Why didn't you tell me
Lucas - It was her idea!
Riley - Lucas!
Maya looks at me again and hugs me. I look at Lucas. And he knows already
Riley - I'll see you tomorrow
Lucas - Have fun
Maya - You and I are not done yet!
Maya and I leave Lucas's house and head to mine. All the way over to my house she couldn't stop holding my hand. We'd had to stop a couple of times on the way over because she kept crying and wanting to hug me. I didn't mind though. Not one bit. We arrive to me house. And Maya of course yelling at my parents. She'd say "How can no one have told me that Riley is safe. I am so mad at each and everyone of you!"
We sit at the bay window. She looks at me
Maya - It's really you isn't?
Riley - It is.
Maya - How can you not have told me you were back?
Riley - You know why.
Maya - It's because you hate me
Riley - Yes.
We giggle.
Maya - Honey, what happened to you?
The worse part about being back home is re telling my story, over and over again. It's like I'm still reliving it. I sigh and begin to tell peaches everything. We cried, laughed.
Riley - Wanna know why I didn't tell you I was safe?
Maya - Because you didn't want to cut my trip in Ireland short. Because you knew that if you told me you were back, I'd come back home as fast as I could. Because you love me so much and you know how happy I was there.
Riley - Correct
Maya - We were supposed to go together.
Riley - Well I guess it's a good thing that our parents agreed to take us in the summer
Maya - Shut up
Riley - Were going to Ireland for the summer
Maya - Shut up. Honey, you are going to love it.  I had the best time there.
She starts telling me all of her adventures. She'd stop something and just smile at me and then contained. I've missed her. Having Maya back is kind of like a breath of fresh air. I feel a little bit like myself. I feel something inside of me come back. Could it possibly be a little hope? No. It can't be. I lost all my hope when I was taken. Hope is gone.
