How Are You?

LUCAS POV
She opens the window to let me in. She smiles at me.
Lucas - It's really you isn't it?
Riley - Afraid so
She hugs me. It felt so nice to touch her again. It felt so right. I didn't want to let go.
Lucas - I. I can't believe you're here Riley. Are you okay? Are you hurt?
Riley - I'm fine Lucas.
Lucas - What happened Riley?
Riley - Do you know how many times people have asked me that exact same question in the past 24 hours?
Lucas - Once.
I laugh.
Riley - How are you? How's Zay? How's Maya? How'd they hold up?

Riley - If I were alive?
Lucas - We didn't know if you'd come home.
Riley - Yeah. Me neither..
Lucas - What happened to you?
Riley - Can we sit here. For a while.
Lucas - Riley..
Riley - Please.
I nod. She rests her head on my shoulder and grabs my hand. We just sit there in silence. I could tell she was hurting.
After a while I look over to her, she's asleep. She's looks so peaceful sleeping. She's safe now. I pick her up and tuck her in bed. I kiss her forehead and start to leave but I'm stopped by her hand grabbing mine. "Please don't leave" she says to me. How can I leave her? I couldn't leave her, I didn't want to leave her. So I didn't. I lay beside her and we're staring at each-other. She's so beautiful, even when she's hurting.
Riley - I killed someone. Someone who was so nice to me. And I killed him, and in the end it didn't even matter
Lucas - Riley, you don't have to tell me
Riley - I can't keep it inside of me anymore Lucas. It's eating me up. Please Lucas.
I nod and she continues. I can't believe what she's telling me. I can not believe this happened.
