"Rory! We have to go!" I shout.
"I can't find my CD! Did you take it?!" Rory shouts back as she steps out of her room.
I roll my eyes. "You had it with you all day yesterday! How would I even take it?" I flip through a magazine as I wait for my sister.
"Right." she goes back into her room.
I hear something drop in her room and groan. "Come on!"
She steps back out again with her yellow backpack on. "I'm ready, lets go."
"Finally!" I put the magazine on the coffee table and walk over to Rory. "Ask Mom. I'm sure she'll know where it disappeared to." I tell her as I put on my purple backpack.
"Alright, lets just go to Luke's." Rory replies. She walks out the door and I follow closely behind her.
10 minutes later
We enter Luke's diner just as a guy finishes saying, "Enjoy your coffee, mystery woman."
We hear a woman whisper, "Hm. I like that." I instantly know who that voice belongs to.
Rory sits across from our mom, Lorelai. "Hey. It's freezing." she says.
I grab a chair from an empty table nearby and pull it up to our table. "Yeah." I agree. "But it's nice."
"Oh, what do you need? Hot tea, coffee?" Lorelai asks us.
"Lip gloss." Rory tells her as she sets her backpack down beside her chair.
"Coffee for me." I say, setting my backpack down as well.
"Aha." Mom takes out a makeup bag from her purse and puts it on the table. "I have vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and toasted marshmallow."
I chuckle.
Rory sighs. "Anything in there not resembling a breakfast cereal?"
"Yes." Mom says. She pulls out another makeup bag. "It has no smell but it changes colors with your mood."
"God, RuPaul doesn't need this much makeup." Rory exclaims.
"Wow, you're crabby." Mom smiles.
"She lost her Macy Gray CD and she needs caffeine." I tell Mom.
She turns to pull something out of her purse. "Ooh, I have your CD."
"Thief." Rory frowns and takes the CD.
Mom picks up two coffee cups and stands up. "Sorry, and I'll get you two some coffee." She walks over to the counter and I see Luke give her a look.
A man comes over to our table and starts complimenting us and, of course, Rory blushes.
"Are you new? I've never seen you around town before." Rory asks him. I keep my mouth shut because I don't do too well in conversations with a guy.
"Yeah, I've never been through here before." the man replies.
Just in time, Mom walks up behind him. "Oh, you have, too." she interjects.
"Oh, hi." the man says.
"Oh, hi. You really like my table, don't you?" Mom sets our coffee cups down on the table.
