Here it is! Sorry this took forever. Exams are almost done and that'll give me more time to write. I am not going to make promises about when I'm going to publish a chapter because I said that last time and obviously that didn't happen. XD I am entering a writing contest so I'll be writing for that too.

Shout out to @EmilyGillett who voted on every chapter since January 28th. As per your request, ANOTHER CHAPTER! ENJOY!

All of us have gathered around the table, eating in silence. I can tell that Mom is a little upset, Grandma and Grandpa are happy and Gran is simply confused.

After I dropped the bomb about going to Yale, Gran wouldn't stop asking me and the rest of us questions. That is, until Mom prevented her from asking any further. Grandma took that as a sign of anger from Mom and there was a mini argument before Gran angrily stopped them.

And now no one dares to speak a word. I wonder who will be the first to break. My bet is on Gran or Mom, after all, they do have the same name.

Just as I predicted, Gran breaks. "Oh, Richard you can't allow this!" she says sounding really stressed out.

Grandpa sighs, placing his fork down. "Trix, you know this isn't my decision. This is Callie's choice."

"And what about Rory?!" she exclaims.

"If Rory wants to go to Harvard, she can. She's wanted to go there since she was a little girl; and I'll be damned if she can't go there because of a family tradition." Grandpa says sternly.

Mom leans over to her side to whisper something to Rory. It must've been something encouraging because Mom pats her hand and Rory nods in return.

I sigh, fed up with the argument between Gran and Grandpa, the jealously rising in me over the closeness of Mom and Rory; and the confusion. Why can't Rory go to her dream school? Why isn't Grandma saying anything? Why can't I go to Yale? Isn't it what they want?

"Stop. Stop!" I groan, placing my fingers against my temples.

Mom senses my frustration and confusion, and decides to join in. "What is the problem?" she asks Gran.

Gran opens her mouth to reply but Mom continues speaking. "I get that you guys have a Yale tradition but only the men in the family went to Yale. Can't you make an exception? For Rory?"

Gran rolls her eyes. "I suppose.."

"And what's with the disapproval of Callie's choice? She's doing what you want!" Mom exclaims.

  "She. Can't." Gran simply replies.

  "And why not?"

"It'll cause problems." Gran says. "She'll bring up issues from the past."

Mom makes a confused expression. "What issues?"

Gran looks at Grandma and she looks away immediately.

  "Mom?" Mom says hesitantly.

Grandma just shakes her head, looking down. Obviously she had something to do with this issue, and obviously she isn't proud of it.

I expect Mom to pound Grandma with questions, or beg Gran to share this story..but she doesn't.

  "It doesn't matter." she says.

  I stare at her. "What?"

"What?" Grandpa and Gran say at the same time.

  "Lorelai.." Grandma starts.

But Mom brushes it all off, looking directly at Gran. "It does not matter if she cheated on every test, broke into the school at midnight or got so drunk she didn't know where she was when she woke up."

We all sit in silence, listening to her.

"She is my mother." Mom's voice sounds strained and her face is dead serious. "And nothing she did could ever stop Callie from going to Yale if she wanted to. It shouldn't matter. And it doesn't." she exhales shakily. "Is what she did so bad that it'd prevent you from allowing your great-grand-daughter to go to that school?"

Gran stares at Mom for a moment, then stands. "We shall talk about this at a later date. For now, I'm tired." she states. "Tomorrow, I will plan the menu and we will have tea at noon." With that said, Gran retires to her room and the rest of us eat our dinner, then Mom, Rory and I leave.

"I can't go to that tea thing with Gran." Rory says as we get into the jeep.

"Oh, okay. I'll just tell Grandma." Mom shrugs, sticking her key into the ignition.

"Yeah, I'm studying tomorrow. I'm in a study group and our presentation is due on Monday." Rory informs her.

"Alright, alright." Mom says jokingly. "It's not me you need to convince. Anyways, I'm sure it'll be fine, you don't really need to come. Unless you have some weird craving for tea that you're not telling me about." Mom raises an eyebrow at her.

"Funny." Rory gives Mom an unimpressed glare. "Why don't I need to come?"

"You can go to Harvard. And you are, right?" Mom says, pulling the jeep out of the driveway.

"Of course." Rory agreed. "But don't you feel a little--"

"Unh unh." Mom cuts Rory off, shaking her head. "No, it's not up to them. It's your choice."

Rory sighs. "That's it, I don't want to hear the word college for the next 24 hours."

Mom and Rory joke around and laugh about whatever. I curl up against the door in the backseat, exhaling against the window.

I don't really feel like having this conversation with them, but that doesn't stop me from thinking about it. What is Grandma's secret? Could she possibly be connected to that red-headed girl people mentioned at the beginning of the year? I have to ask her about it, tomorrow.

Aaah! I'm finally updating! YAY! I know you guys deserve more than 930 words in one chapter. I only stopped because I need ideas, your ideas.

Tell me, what should Emily's secret be? What did she do back in college? Besides stealing Richard and being the other woman. XD Some of my ideas were:

  - She got pregnant either before she met Richard or with Richard. She could have aborted or given the baby to her sister Hopey (Hopie?).

  - Her sister Hopey (Hopie?) got into some kind of trouble and had no way to pay fully for the charges or whatever. This would happen while Emily was with Richard, much to Gran's dismay. Gran could've offered to help Hopey out financially, with a deal. Emily would have Richard for a certain amount of time, then she would have to leave him or something like that. She doesn't have to have had followed the deal, she could've broken it.

Anyway, tell me what you think her secret should be ASAP so I can start brainstorming and writing the next chapter.

  Thanks!!
