This chapter takes place in February. Thanks for reading ^w^
"Mom!" I shout at the bottom of the stairs. "We have to go!"
"Coming! I'm coming!" she shouts from the top.
"Sure you are." I scoff, rolling my eyes.
"Y'know," Mom says as I hear footsteps condescend from upstairs. "I may not be able to see you right now, but that doesn't mean I don't know what you're doing."
I roll my eyes again.
"You are my daughter after all." she adds, coming down the stairs.
I sigh. "We're going to be late. Lets just go." I turn and head to Rory's room. "Hey, are you ready?"
"Yeah, long time ago. I was waiting for you two." she stands and picks up her coat. "Lets go."
"Grandma is going to be so mad.." I mutter following closely behind her.

"I was wondering if you girls were coming." Grandma says as she lets us in. "What was the problem?"
"Oh, no problem, just a little traffic that's all." I reply, taking off my coat.
"Yes, well, the roads are probably still slippery." Grandma says. "Come in."
Rory and I walk into the living room for our drinks, but Mom stays back to say something to the Grandma.
"Mom?" Rory calls, knowing what Mom is up to.
"Sorry Rory." Grandma sighs. "Drinks anyone?" She says walking into the room; Mom following behind her.
Rory and I sit as we wait for Grandma to get the cart. "What would you like?"
"A gin martini, please." Mom answers as she sits across from us.
"A club soda." Rory tells Grandma.
"Alright. Callie, what would you like?"
"Um, an iced tea, please. Thanks." I say quietly.
Grandma makes our drinks, hands them out, then makes herself a drink. "So what's new in your lives?" She asks.
I look at Rory, Grandma doesn't know Rory and Dean are broken up. And she doesn't know that me and Asher are taking a break. She does however, know about Mom and Max, Rory's teacher.
"Uh, not much actually. School's pretty good." Rory replies casually.
"That's good. And what about your boyfriend?" She counters.
Rory hesitates, trying to think quickly. But she sighs and ends up telling the truth. "He's..not my boyfriend anymore."
Grandma turns to look at Rory, exchanges glances with Mom and I as well. "My, that's a shame. It seemed like you two were getting close, it was your anniversary not too long ago wasn't it?"
"Um, yeah--"
"Well then when did he break up with you?"
"Mom, you're bursting all over the poor girl. Give her a chance to explain, something she hasn't done yet." Mom whispers the last part.
"I'm sorry. I'm just surprised that's all." Grandma sits down beside Mom. "I'm listening, Rory."
Rory lets out a big breath and starts. "Our anniversary was great, it was amazing! But.."
"But..?"
"He told me something and when I didn't react the way he wanted me to, he got upset." Rory says. "I tried to explain but..he didn't want to listen."
