"Did we get everything on the list?" Rory asks me.
"I think so. We just have to wait for the new order of sticky notes and lined paper to come in next week." I tell her as we walk to the cashier. The cashier looks familiar. Where do I recognize him from? Oh! He's the guy!
I gasp and stare at Rory. She blushes and swats her hand at my face. I close my mouth and smile.
"Hey." the guy says to Rory, as we put our basket on the counter for him to check everything out.
"Hi." she replies, still blushing. She notices me staring at them and motions to me. "Oh, this is my sister, Callie."
"Hi, Callie." the guy extends his arm to me. "I'm Dean."
I shake his hand, which seems so old fashioned and a little weird. I wonder if Mom is going to do this when she meets him. If she meets him. "Nice to meet you, Dean."
"So, are you older?" he asks me.
I grin. "I do give that impression don't I?"
Rory rolls her eyes. "She's younger, by a year."
"Do you have any siblings?" I ask Dean.
He nods. "A sister. Wayy younger than me. She's into horses and candy."
"Ahh. Sounds like the past version of me." I chuckle, so does he.
"So, uh, aren't you supposed to have all of this school stuff already?" he asks us. "I mean, school started like two weeks ago."
I glance at Rory.
"We're switching to a different school." Rory tells him. "We got accepted."
"Wow. Uh, congratulations. Is it a hard school?" Dean continues bagging our supplies.
"It's supposed to be. But, I think I can handle it." Rory says, smiling.
Dean smiles at her. "I think you can too." They are both smiling and blushing. I feel like a third-wheel right now.
"So, we'd better get going." I say. "I'll meet you outside." I tell Rory as I grab two small bags and head out of the market. I turn around and see them talking, smiling and being all cutesy. I stand there waiting for Rory to come out.
Suddenly, a guy stands about 2 feet beside me. He just stands there, with his arms crossed. His hair is a light brown and a little shorter than shoulder length. Finally, he steps closer to me. "Hey," he smiles warmly, which surprisingly makes me feel...comfortable. Weird.
"Hi." I say. "Are you waiting for someone or do you just like to do your shopping outside of the actual store?" I grin.
He chuckles. "Uh no. I'm afraid I'm a little bit lost, I'm waiting for my sister. She's supposed to be meeting me here." he tells me.
"Oh, well, what does she look like, maybe I've seen her around here?" I ask, stepping closer.
"She has long, dark brown hair. It's a little wavy. Her eyes are blue. She's tall and thin. She looks about the same age as you." he informs me. "How old are you? I'm sorry if that's rude to ask."
I shake my head. "No, I don't mind. I'm fifteen. My birthday's in July and I'm a Cancer. I have a sister, she's in there." I tell him. "Anything else you would like to know about me?" I joke.
He smiles. "Actually, another possibly forward question."
"Shoot."
"Uh well, I was wondering if you're free on Sunday. It wouldn't be a date or anything! I need a little help in a few of my courses, and you seem..smart." he blushes.
